Thread: Magic Exile: Press @ to Exit.

  1. #751

    Re: Magic Exile: Finally @ sheepland!

    Steve starts by wandering off and having a bath in the river. It is incredibly cold, but being an artist he is a little absent minded about personal hygiene. Fortunately nobody had noticed that this is the first time he washed since they made landfall. Quite liking the look of the sharp rocks Skeggi found in the lakebed he drags back a few more with him, stones are good for fences too.

    Then he gets back to work.

    While it is hard to resist the temptation to fill fenceposts with magical powers, none of Steve's enchantments are actually useful in the slightest on any object that isn't mobile.
    And fenceposts are designed to be about as immobile as you can possibly make them. So for now they are probably finished.
    "Skeggi! You're a large, strapping lad!
    Hammer in these fenceposts for me. You probably aren't doing anything else important right now.
    Those rocks will probably look nice in a fence too, I hope that's why you dragged them out of the river."

    Having now deferred the most labour intensive part of the job to someone else, Steve carves a few more posts (he really isn't actually certain how many they will need to surround the camp) but quickly runs out of wooden logs.
    "Also we need more wood."

    This presents a bit of a problem. While Steve is clearly the best suited for the job (as master of woodcraft and also being a guy with speedy shoes) he doesn't think he has the physical strength to drag wooden logs across the whole of sheep county, even Skeggi might not be able to carry more than a couple.
    "So uh... does anyone mind if I borrow the cart?
    Maybe making some kind of storage space that also isn't our only means of transporting goods around might have been a good idea."

    Also he pumps most of his magic into his shoes just because he can.

    Washing [1]
    Collect stones [2x1]
    Carve Fenceposts (x4) [2x1 - 2 capped to 1 = 1] [-2 logs]

    Recharge Shoes of Speed [-8FP]

    Farmer, not caring much for candy or much else, goes off to the Public Well area to meet the fella there, he brings Relish along to lug the Cauldron with him, and a bit of protection never hurt anyone. In fact it does quite the opposite.

    Farmer:Head to Well, Meet Locals and Ask about trading.
    Relish: Follow Farmer, Bring Cauldron.
    Slices: Harvest Candy, Set-up Fences
    Chutney: Shear Cows, Set-up Fences.

    Victor stops abruptly and turns to Steve.
    "Hey, wait an arbitrary time measurement unit or two. My requirement of Skeggi's assistence with superior indispensability than you. Anyone can hammer a fencepost but only Skeggi is an expert in the art of thermokinesis.

    He then points at Farmer and the tomatots with his mechanical hand, making an odd whirly gesture.
    "Farmer's approximately spherical photosynthetic pals can do the manual labor.

    Yeah my... Tomatots...

    In no time at all it becomes clear Farmer is a bit out of it. It tends to happen when you miss enough nights of sleep.

    Right-o, Steve, after Chutney and Slices are done with the Candy and the Cows, you can get them to do whatever you want, make them hammer in the fenceposts with their hands or whats it. I'm taking big old Relish with me to head to the well.

    Blrgrrrh. Relish. Grrr.

    Stop that you.

    If anyone wants my Tomatots to do something just ask, it's a bit hard to find work for these guys so a little help with that would be just peaches.

    [Note: Foraging normally takes that much time because normally you don't know where those things are!]

    The meteor isn't magical, Iorni finds out, only delicious.
    The pile of meteor chunks is now only the size of three melons.

    Mike is sleeping, and making plans in his dreams about talking with farmers about serious things.

    Chutney nibbles off the wool from the cows.
    Slices pulverizes the candy to fine dust.
    They also hammer in fenceposts.

    ~~~~~~~
    Victor, Skeggi and Farmer are now in the Well Area. Relish is here too, filling the cauldron. He sure loves imported water, the lake was not good for his taste.
    If Skeggi and Victor continues, they will enter the junkyard. The smell of rust is brought by the wind.
    Farmer meets a bunch of shepherds! He asks them about trading. "Yeah, we do that", says one of them.
    EDIT: Fixed Steve's spell casting
    Michael casts Intuition, just for the things to come.
    Then, he scoots to the Well Area to catch up with Victor and Skeggi.
    Farmer starts up a conversation.
    Well, I can't actually show you alot I have to trade, but I can certaintly tell you, yeah? Like for instance, we recently came into possession of some space candy...
    Farmer basically continues, asking the Shepards what they might be interested in. Like Candy, Tomatot Seeds (He can enchant one right here and there), Jungle Pepper, Mushroom Kits, Rabbits, Orcish Lager, and Yuck and Yak Wool.
    MEANWHILE AT THE CAMP...
    Why are we making fence again? This fence sucks!
    Yeah! Sucks!
    Chutney goes over to Rajillia and shakes her for attention.
    Nice Lady, Farmer not here, what do we do now?
    They are quite interested in the seeds and candy, not so much about rabbits and your wool. They are proud of their sheep.
    Alright, what have you got for trade then?
    I can make you a Tomatot Seed right here. They're easier to grow than weeds, all they need is water! I don't have any Candy immediately on hand though, I'd have to make a trip. Unless you feel like coming to our little campsite by the lake.
    Re: Magic Exile: I accidentaly an entire meteor, is that bad?
    Haha, sounds great. Done deal.
    Farmer enchants a Tomatot seed and hands it over, he gives some simple instructions on how to grow it (stick in ground, water each day) and it needs to drink some water to keep healthy even when it's up and about, once every 2 days usually. Blah blah, it should learn to speak on it's own, blah blah, give it a name. Whatever.
    Not all vegemancers are farmers like Peter, that is to say, they don't all go out and know how to grow their own food. In fact, a lot of them sold their seeds to people who did know how to grow something, or rich men in need of unique servants, with the money to have their own farmers.
    Relish picks up the Ale Barrel up with the Cauldron of water and leaves with Farmer back to the Camp. If we get the Ale Barrel that is of course.
    Farmer: Enchant Tomatot Seed, Trade Nonsense, Head to Base (if Trade is succesful).
    Relish: Collect Water, Grab Ale, Follow Farmer.
    Slices: Nap x2, Examine Bushes, Collect Firewood if Safe (from Bushes)
    Chutney: Nap x1, Explore/Scout
    Rajilla acts surprisingly passive at the pair of giant tomatoes shaking her and with a characteristic sigh, she tells Slices to go get some firewood and then explores, telling Chutney to follow her. She then goes for a wash.
    Re: Magic Exile: almost@Trading
    "Any opinions? Hello? Oh."
    This is the first time Steve notices that almost everyone has actually already wandered off, be it to explore foreign piles of metal, trade with farmers or wash themselves.
    Most notably, Rajilla isn't around. The temptation to just grab the cart and make off with it while nobody is there to shout at him is almost irresistible...
    If only it didn't have all the food in it. He's not quite that selfish.
    And besides then when he got back everyone would be both angry and hungry which would probably make them angrier.
    So he just contents himself with whining to nobody instead.
    "Bunch of slackers, where do they think they get off wandering away like that? Didn't like it when I went for a look around, now they're all doing it too..."
    He finds the axe in the assorted clutter filling the back and funnels as much of his rather unimpressive remaining magic supply into it as he can, then spends the rest of the time sleeping.
    If everyone's off doing whatever they're doing (he assumes it's not any kind of work) and nobody but the kid is here to notice he's not planning on doing anything stressful either.
    Farmer: Barter, -5 FP, Restore all FP, +1 XP
    Iorni: HERBSx3 [6-2]
    Micheal: -5 fp , +1 XP, walking
    Rajilla: Wash; rest taken off
    Steve: rest taken off -3 +8 FP
    Skeggi: Travel west
    Victor: Travel west
    Add: Strength Thistlex2, Wild Barley, Barrel of Barley Ale
    Remove: 1 Monster seed
    Added to OP: reminder about Recharging
    Mike sees Victor and Skeggi delightfully walking in a junkyard at night. He then arrives to the well, but they are already gone.
    Victor drags Skeggi with himself and head for west. They don't stop until they are in the middle of the Junkyard. Whoops.
    Ironi found two bunch of Strength Thistle and a bunch of Wild Barley. You could have ale soon!
    Chutney watches as Rajilla interacts with the water.
    Slices can't find any trees or sticks as firewood! He found bushes but he is unsure about them. Maybe there are more things on the other side of the lake?
    The rabbits are hungrryyyyy. :c
    Farmer trades. He also gets invited to some ale too.
    It is now night of 8 of Volcano.
    Also I found a load and sturdy branch in the inventory, that can make two more fenceposts.
    Re: Magic Exile: Split @ Night
    You mentioned it might be possible to join after the game starts.
    I might want to do that. If so, what should I do?
    My character idea:
    Name: Wilberforth
    Colour: Indigo
    Strength: 12 - Intelligence: 11 - Dexterity: 12
    Skills: Fixing machines, writing shorthand, acting
    One terrible flaw: Tends to believe people follow stereotypes, even if there is considerable evidence to the contrary.
    5 personal equipment: notebook, station wagon, bottle of water, mattress, box of childrens' picture books of sentimental value (which he would rather not deface).
    Most importantly:
    !!!MAGIC!!!
    All of you will have a unique form of magic.
    A magical style is like this:
    Name: Invocation of lies
    Focus: drawing runes in the margins of a book in which quotes related to the spell are recorded.
    Profile(s): What is the general theme of the magic? Other peoples' lies, falsehoods and deceptions- identifying them and bringing them true.
    Is there enough deception in this game for that to be of any use?
    "Holy Trom! I dunno what was in that ale, but I feel like waking up after a weird dream. And this doesn't look better, actually."
    Skeggi shakes his head
    "Hey, Victor, I have both bad and good news..."
    The good is this guy seems to be your kind of material. Mine too.
    The bad it's usually the stuff we use doesn't move on it's own with dubious motives."
    Skeggi tries to hit the machine on its exposed parts (left flank)
    "Listen, there is smoke coming out of the machine... do you see what it means?"
    Skeggi uses Fire Faerie to move randomly the fire inside the DILAPIDATED AUTOMATON (-1 FP)
