Steve starts by wandering off and having a bath in the river. It is incredibly cold, but being an artist he is a little absent minded about personal hygiene. Fortunately nobody had noticed that this is the first time he washed since they made landfall. Quite liking the look of the sharp rocks Skeggi found in the lakebed he drags back a few more with him, stones are good for fences too.
Then he gets back to work.
While it is hard to resist the temptation to fill fenceposts with magical powers, none of Steve's enchantments are actually useful in the slightest on any object that isn't mobile.
And fenceposts are designed to be about as immobile as you can possibly make them. So for now they are probably finished.
"Skeggi! You're a large, strapping lad!
Hammer in these fenceposts for me. You probably aren't doing anything else important right now.
Those rocks will probably look nice in a fence too, I hope that's why you dragged them out of the river."
Having now deferred the most labour intensive part of the job to someone else, Steve carves a few more posts (he really isn't actually certain how many they will need to surround the camp) but quickly runs out of wooden logs.
"Also we need more wood."
This presents a bit of a problem. While Steve is clearly the best suited for the job (as master of woodcraft and also being a guy with speedy shoes) he doesn't think he has the physical strength to drag wooden logs across the whole of sheep county, even Skeggi might not be able to carry more than a couple.
"So uh... does anyone mind if I borrow the cart?
Maybe making some kind of storage space that also isn't our only means of transporting goods around might have been a good idea."
Also he pumps most of his magic into his shoes just because he can.
