You can edit the lang files you know.
I did that once to match this really bizarre texture pack I was using, and I had a lot of fun trying to remember why exactly I had a stack and a half of purple mucous in my inventory.
It was sticks.

Hmm... currency that's placed in the players' inventory instead on the GUI. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean I've fiddled around with the Millénaire mod in the past and the money also sat in the inventory. On the plus side, it was separated into the classic three tiers (copper, silver, and gold) in which the exchange goes 64 copper = 1 silver and 64 silver = 1 gold.

Since this is only one screenshot, I have no idea if 64 of the red gems auto convert itself into a greater piece of currency.

I'm... gonna hold back my judgement until I see more on this trading system. >_>;
