We Didn't Playtest This At All - And I Didn't Either
We Didn't Playtest This At All is a card game distributed by the company Asmadi Games. I own the original game and the expansion pack, "We didn't playtest this either".
And we are going to play this game on a forum.
First, let me explain the basic rules of the game
The object of the game is to win. If you win, the game is over. If you lose, you can no longer win, and are therefore out of the game.
Every player starts with two cards. On each player's turn, they play a card and pick a card. Rules written on cards override all other rules.
Some of the cards are Star Cards. These cards are more important than any other card.
And that's it! Let the recruitment begin!
...Well no, obviously not. Though the real rules are in fact that bare-bones *though there are a few more rules, I lost the card-sized instructions that come with the game), we need to lay down a few ground rules for the internet version of this game.
Forum Rules for the Game
Recruitment
The first seven people who ask to join the game are the first seven people who will play. Once seven people have been chosen, recruitment is CLOSED.
You cannot ask to join the game when seven people have already been chosen. You must wait until the current game is over. Which could happen at any time.
Recruitment for a new game does not start until the GM says so. Even if the last card played ends the game, you must wait for recruitment to be declared.
Playing the Game
Gameplay starts with the first person to be recruited, and goes from first to last recruit, cycling through the players until the game is over.
Each turn consists of three actions - Playing a card from your hand, following the actions on that card, and picking a new card.
Each player begins with 2 cards. I will PM each individual player to tell them which cards they have, and I will keep track of who has which cards on this thread, along with whether or not their cards are Star cards, and which cards they have in play.
Reacting to a Card
Playing a card changes the nature of the game. Players are not to continue with play until the actions on the card are resolved.
If the card does not require participation from the other players, play passes once the GM has instructed the next player to take their turn.
If the card DOES require participation from other players, all other players must participate for play to resume.
Once all actions have been taken by the appropriate players, play proceeds as normal or directed by the cards.
If your card is reactionary (I.E., it reacts to events in the game), you must play it within 12 hours of the most recent turn for it to take effect.
Note: Failure to respond to a card within 48 hours will result in immediate ejection from the game, unless the GM is given prior notice that you will be absent, in which case you may request a 1 week hiatus. The same rule applies for playing a card when it is your turn.
It is important to wait for your GM to instruct you to take your turn. Some cards allow for an action to be taken immediately after certain cards have been played. So a waiting period of at least 12 hours must allowed after each player's turn.
Okay, just to give you an example of what to expect, here's three examples of what one of the cards will look like when I PM you the information.
No Trading
Play anytime.
If any player was given a card by another player during the most recent turn, the receiving player loses!
Also, take all their cards.
That'll teach 'em.
Otherwise, play on your turn to draw two cards.
Play this card within 12 hours of the turn in which you want it to take effect.
'No, this isn't Settlers of We Didn't Playtest This at All'
'Oh, you mean Starfarers?'
*Surprise!*
This card is a Star Card. Star Cards are better than other cards!
Play this card if you just lost when only two players were left in the game.
You win instead!
Play this card within 12 hours of the turn in which you want it to take effect.
[Supply Closet]
Stratgery
Challenge another player to a strategic duel! You must pick a player to challenge to play this card.
First, reveal a card in your hand. Then, the chosen player must do the same.
Once you have both revealed your cards, count the letters in each card's bold and underlined title.
The player(s) with the highest number loses.
If their number is twice as big(or more), you win!
Lockbox!
Oh, by the way, if everyone else loses the game, you win.
((And because it was brought up, any card can be played on your turn. Star Cards are not restricted. The rules up there are an example of one Star Card, not of all the Star Cards.))

You Win!
You win when you play this card...if you are an average player. That means you are neither the first nor the last player in turn order, you have neither the most nor the least posts in the forum, you joined neither the earliest or the latest, and your name is neither the longest nor the shortest in this game.
Otherwise, play this card to get +5 points. Anyone with 15 points wins!
Yay mediocrity!
Too bad I am first, or this would have been the easiest game ever.
Re: We Didn't Playtest This At All - And I Didn't Either
Twelve hours remain before the next turn, should anyone choose to react to this card.
Note: Response time to play a reaction card begins when the player makes his post, NOT when I make mine. The window of opportunity here will be over at 9:01 AM.

Go Fish
Pick a consonant, and then choose another player. Randomly select a card for them to reveal. (For purposes of choosing a card, use the order in which they received their card. First card in their first PM is the "first" card they recievecd.)
Re: We Didn't Playtest This At All - And I Didn't Either
Rest of the card:
Once the player has revealed their card, count the number of consonants you matched in the title of the card. For each one, you must choose a player to lose.
>As previously mentioned, there will now be a waiting period of 12 hours for anyone who wishes to play a card in response.
Note that I will do this at the end of every turn, regardless of whether or not anyone actually has any cards they could play. This is to preserve the mystery~
So anyway, yeah. Masterblade, once 5:52 AM hits on 10/30/2011, you may take your turn.

Yeah, this might prove to be problematic. Except I know for a fact that people might want to play certain cards after the results have been seen.
We could move to remove the rule, or reduce the time required to wait. I'll give it a few hours *I.E., after I eat tonight* for anyone to lodge an objection to this/agree with it before doing so though. The last thing I want to do is an arbitrary rule change, but the second-to-last thing is to create a game that slogs.
