Sorry I haven't been updating this. Two days after I started the thread I suddenly fell ill. This, and the fact that considerable presence of mind- more than someone with a fever in a fit of coughing can produce- is required to write and draw this, means I was unable to update. Suffice to say I am now working on the next update, which is cool. So are parentheses. They are cool too.
The choice is clear you
shall become the one
who needs no sleep
Yet lives half in the realm of
Dreaming
First open your eyes
Then open them again

And then she hears the voices.
not quite sound but a calming
absence of the noise and fear
Her eyes flit open to greet
them suspiciously, more in
confusion than in terror.
And as she sits helpless here,
in this cramped and wretched hole
with the smell of animals
and the scratches on the walls
she feels a strange sense of hope.

She lifts up the ragged tome,
and opens the aged cover.
All but the first and second
pages are devoid of script
like graveyards of blank paper
that hold no life or meaning.
Abruptly, her mind flips back
to the faces in the flames
that were not those of people
but the faces of herself
simulacrums of her own
dying in the white fire.
She closes the book in fright.
but inside the back cover
lies an intricate design.
And suddenly, all is well.

"dearest ennui,
that you are reading this you
have finally begun io[sic] show some
interest in the language of our
ancestors. I must be very proud
of you.
it is time for you to inherit
this book. fill its pages with
what you will.
the relic in the back is also
yours now. I trust you will
plumb its sfcr[sic] as I did."
I am unsure of the punctuation, but I believe this is what is written.
The word OPEN is written going clockwise from the top left of the back cover.
She looks to the percieved source
of the voice in the silence.
She is bewildered. Surely
one can recognise her dress
and ribbon; those of a child.
She does not have a name
only her chosen feeling.
The one she has felt since birth,
and will feel until the time
to recieve her true name comes.

I suggest you do so.
Instinctively she knows how.
She swiftly presses her hand
to the centre of the page.
As her hand recoils from the
slight burn of the sudden light,
a shape fades into being
upon the glittering tome.
But before she can react
it is propelled towards her.

This is most surprising
She believed the answer to be sensible
With this book's uprising
All sort of things now seem feasible.
The bangle posesses a
strange weightlessness. It exits
the bleak hiding place swiftly.
She gazes out after it.
Her curiosity has
overridden the terror.
She beholds as it
comes to rest upon
a road of the daywalkers.

The bracelet seems to stir in her
hands. Power seems to flow from its
smooth, white ivory surface.
To every sense it seems to
be the idol of knowledge.
Its bony surface gives the
idea of being studied.

I am a terrible person who hasn't updated for some reason (the reason rhymes with schmool.) To make up for it, have a bunch of silly concept arts I did ages ago. Most of them are very silly.
