Hi so I'm trying to debug my pesterchum because it's not launching at all I'm on a Windows and I went to pastebin

Hoping for a fix for this soon. Virus scanner has quarantined and deleted pesterchum, and refuses to download a new client. Sigh.

Hello! I got pesterchum a while ago, and exited out of it. I tried to open it again later on, and it did nothing. so i deleted it, and downloaded it again. it's doing the same thing. can someone help?

It ships with Python 2.6 on Windows, but works perfectly fine with 2.7 (I run it with 2.7 personally).

Run the debug version (found in the OP). Chances are it also won't open. But it'll generate a file called 'debug.log' in the Pesterchum folder. Open that file in notepad, if it looks something like thhttp://pastebin.com/stDH0Pat particularly the last two lines

IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory:
u'C:\\Users\\Andreww\\AppData\\Local\\pesterchum/profiles/someHandle.js'

then follow the instructions found here. If your debug.log doesn't look like that, copy and paste it to http://pastebin.com and post the link here.

This is a false positive: I have just checked the md5 sum of my own personal copy and the copy on the ABT server and they match. I'm not sure what virus scanner is checking the download, but the file on the ABT server has not changed, and the server has not been compromised.

Yeah that's it. It stayed on the connecting screen for hours so I guessed it wasn't going to do anything else. I don't think it's connection issues though because I can get in fine on mibbit so I don't know what's wrong. The other thing is that I can't interact with the window or tray icon so that's a problem too.

I and a few people I know have had the problem, though we've actually had pesterchum for a while, and we've never had the problem before.

Though if the servers aren't compromised I guess this is just a false positive/unrelated virus that just tries to use it. Thanks!

A lot of people are having the problem, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Hopefully Kioohet or ghostDunk know how to fix it. I've yet to have the problem, so it's definitely not the server it uses.

They already did. It's called Chumdroid. It's no longer on the Play Store, though, so you have to download it from an external source.

so i know that i'm probably in the wrong place here,
but i just downloaded a pesterchum ver for mac, and each time i quit and go back in, my chumhandle is reset to pesterClient321, even though i changed it, and all the chums I've added just disappear.
if also if there is a better place for this to be posted, a redirection would be much appreciated.

I had to have my computer overhauled not too long ago because it was old and breaking down. Pesterchum worked wonderfully on that system but now I'm using windows 7 Pro and every time I try and open the file to install it I'm greeted with it telling me that it can accesses the specified device, path, or file and I do not have permission to accesses the item.

Okay, apparently I ran it threw the safe mode and it works there fine. I tried to reboot my computer and use it in its normal function, but my computer completely crashed saying there is indeed a malware and trojan in the application. My anti-virus just freaked the hell out and freaked with my computer, it got rid of it but had to delete pesterchum in the processes. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

My school's web proxy has blocked off pesterchum and I already tried using port 1413 and it said it didn't work. I then tried using port 21 and it said I was denied access or something like that. Is there anyway I can get around this!?

So recently (as in just now) I installed the newest pesterchum because I realized I had an old version, and was trying to make one of those fancy gradient quirks using the tutorial in the pesterchum quirks thread.

I know how to make the quirk now, however every time I try to start pesterchum, it does the default blue spinny loading mouse-icon, then nothing happens.
No errors appear, nothing appears in the task bar, it just doesn't start. I have no idea why.

Has this happened here before? And whether it has or not is there a fix for it?

I'm trying to download the mac version onto my mac, but it won't work. It downloads, but when I try to open it, it says that "Pesterchum encountered an error".
My mac's stats (for lack of a better term) are:
Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Startup Disc: Macintosh HD

It's a Macbook Pro from 2007 I think? It's pretty old, anyways.
