Whats wrong with my pesterchum?

I don't know what that means, I just dragged the files onto my desktop cause I'm a moron and have no idea how to deal with this stuff. xDD

How would you be able to change the theme?

Dragging the files to a folder on the desktop *is* extracting.

You can change themes just like in the normal program (MENU => OPTIONS => THEMES )But I havent been able to add any others manually and get them to work. (Maybe other people have though?)

Is your firewall blocking pesterchum from connecting to irc.mindfang.org ? (Oh wait dumb question. youd get an error message otherwise)

Try clicking a mood that isnt "Abscond" (Which stands for more or less offline)

Go to your options and make sure "low bandwidth" is unchecked.

Ok, so my friend just got yesterday got Pesterchum. But when they got back on this morning, they had the same problem as me, their handle was lost. But they uninstalled it and then reinstalled it, and it won't open at all. They searched this forum and tried almost everything, logging off, shutting down, reinstalling, and it still won't work for them.

OK, I just tried both of those, and neither work.
I don't quite understand what you mean by local apps folder either ;=;
Must I have a USB stick?
Basically now when i click pesterchum.exe the mouse gets a hourglass in the corner for about 30 seconds and then stops. Nothing loads

I was having problems with Kaspersky deleting pesterchum too, but downloading that portable version seems to work!

So I noticed that the github doesn't seem to get quick replies.

As such, I can't seem to open pesterchum. Nor can I open the debug, or the portable version. I tried deleting everything, reinstalling, and downloading everything that was suggested. I'm kinda at a loss here, since I've tried everything suggested.

One or more of your profiles is a blank file rather than containing a JSON object like it should.
Go through each of your profile files (instructions on where to find them have been posted numerous times and I'm feeling lazy), making sure none of them are empty (open each in Notepad). If you find any that are empty, delete them.

-open up your startmenu (windows orb)
-type %LOCALAPPDATA% into the search box
-press enter
-in the window that opens, locate the pesterchum folder
-copy it to a flashdrive (or zip it up and toss it onto your hosting site of choice)
-log out and log into the other user account
-navigate back to the %LOCALAPPDATA% folder as described above
-copy the folder back
-(overwrite files if necessary)
-open pesterchum

Kind of, you can copy the data from one location to the other but it won't be saved locally to your pesterchum on your harddrive. (Because that defeats the point of it being portable.)

-open up the "PESTERCHUM" folder
-Navigate to the %Local Appdata% folder until you see a lone "pesterchum" folder , open it
-Do the same on your actual computer (start button, %LOCALAPPDATA% [in the searchbox], enter)
-Open the pesterchum folder
-Copy everything inside from one directory to the other (overwriting files if necessary)
-Navigate back to the "Pesterchum Portable" directory
-Double click "Pesterchum.exe"

(EDIT: Acceded actual directory names)

By "not responding" you mean the program freezing/locking up?

Most likely a problem with your internet provider not having all their servers back up due to Sandy blowing through.

i already know where the original pesterchum app data is. what i cant find is the app data for portable, and where would it be if i moved it to an external harddrive?

edit: noticed it didn't save my chumhandle, assuming I'm trying to do something that's impossible?

so, i have a problem downloading the newer version of Pesterchum on my Windows 7 (i still have the old version on my computer). i saved the file required to download it to my computer, and the same error message keeps popping up when i try to open it.

this error message won't stop popping up, no matter what i try. i'm not sure if it's Pesterchum or my computer, but i started by checking my computer. i tried looking at my permissions first (since i might as well check there for problems and get it over with) for both my user account AND for the file itself. i have full control over the file's permissions, and i'm even the admin of the computer, so i shouldn't be having problems with that. at this point, i've tried everything else in my ability to try and fix the problem, including uninstalling the old version and downloading just the newer one, re-downloading the files, and all that nonsense. but unfortunately, nothing works. (and yes, i made absolutely sure i'm downloading the right file.)

is anyone else having this problem? or does anyone have any advice? i've been checking the internet for help and other help sources on my computer for the last few days, but i'm still pretty clueless.... any other help would be much appreciated.
