On another note, I've accidentally opened multiple instances of Pesterchum at the same time, and the program doesn't recognize there's already a copy of it running. This leads to forcing you to signing into a new profile, and, ultimately, allows you to be multiple people at a time. Is this intentional?

NickServ-wise, is there any option for synching or linking profiles to the same account?

Yes, it is intentional, I think. It is used for roleplaying and the like.

There isn't an app for iOS users yet. However, you can always connect to the server via an IRC client.

You're not the only one. And I'm glad I'm not either. I had asked them about this problem earlier but never got a reply to it though. I've just gotten used to it and return to my computer every three to five minutes depending on the speed that my friends normally reply.

Er...my Pesterchum's been going wonky again.

I start it up and then go to the Nickserve to enter my password, cause I registered my chumhandle.
The Nickserve acknowledges my password, and says I'm now identified.
Then, a few moments later, Pesterchum will suddenly switch themes to the default one and inform me I need to pick a new chumhandle despite me JUST having logged in properly a moment or two ago.

I do know how to get back on my main chumhandle, that's not what I'm asking.

What I am asking is this: Why is it doing this, and how do I make it stop?
(the answer to the second is more important than the answer to the first)
(the first question is mostly just curiosity)

Okay, I'm sure this is the solution since I've helped a lot of people with the same issue (and I discovered this solution do to me having that issue some time ago as well):

Somehow your IP address has changed. Log onto your chumhandle again when you get the chance as quickly as you can and then type in DROP. Then re-register it. It should work like a charm afterwords.

This may sound like a stupid question, but is it possible to have a portable version of pesterchum? Not as in mobile, I have it on my phone already. I'm asking about a version I can load on a flash drive, that has all my chums, logs, quirks, etc. saved on the flash drive, rather than loading the files from the computer itself... I've tried the zip folder, and it doesn't accomplish this. It copies the files to the Local Settings folder, then deletes them from the pesterchum directory.... Any solution?

Don't know if anybody's asked/answered this question yet, but...The length of the chosen handle doesn't affect its connection time, does it? And how long does it usually take to connect to the server? Pesterchum's been "CONN3CT1NG" for the last 20 minutes or so. And that was after I deleted it and reinstalled it, because the first one was sitting on my desktop for a full hour before I quit. I don't know if something's wrong, or what.

I haven't the slightest clue how to do it, and I don't care that I don't, but I've noticed there've been a few handles that I honest to gosh don't think need to be registered.
For one, one day I was rolling along minding my own buisiness on andrewHussie when someone registered it?
I'm sorry for thinking this way, but isn't that a handle that should be pretty much open to everybody else? And the only thing the person does with it nowadays is promote their fantroll to canons. It's getting rather ridiculous.
Also this might have been a stretch, but last night I was messing around on the handle lokiLaufeyson and somebody registered it, that's kind of something one doesn't register either in my opinion.
Is there any way to report things like this for review, or...

I get lag like everyone does but that isn't my problem. My problem is that sometimes when I close out of pesterchum, like completely close the program, abscond, all of that, due to lag and then go to start the program back up, it'll say my handle is taken and i'll have to log into one of my others. Is anyone else having the problem?

I have the exact same problem. I've found that if you open up task manager and to go processes, it takes a while but you need to hunt down the pesterchum.exe process and end it. Then you can open it back and everything will be fine. Don't know what's causing the issue but this happens to me on a regular basis and I've found this is a quick fix.

if i may ask are you going to make a app for pesterchum? so it works for the ipod and the phone?

There's already one out for android. No this wasn't asking for it, but I use it, it's called chumdroid, and apparently now the market link is down.

To register: Help > NickServ > type (without quotes + your entries of choice) "register YOURPASSWORD YOUREMAIL"

Registering is not the same as promoting to canon, I'm pretty sure, though I do agree it's pretty ridiculous to keep adding to canons. There should definitely be some sort of handle (hah!) on that.

I doubt it. If anything it's probably your internet connection. Usually, I just like to quit out of it and retry. Otherwise, you may want to see if you have any other extra copies of it open, and terminate those, as well. As a last resort, you might want to try removing the pesterchum.js file (make a copy of it, first!), then restarting Pesterchum.

hello, i am having a similar problem to where people have tried to run but it failed to launch, i have tried all fixes, and will describe my results

move profile to profiles folder> it was already there and set as default

delete blank profiles>i don't have any profiles that come up blank, i'd delete my default profile anyways if that didn't mean losing a whole 24 hours worth of setting up quirks

run as admin>wasn't listed as a solution, tried it anyways, didn't work

what happens is i attempt to run PC, the icon flashes so i know it tries, but in the end it doesn't launch, i've tried it with both taskbar shortcut and desktop shortcut, and the shortcut in the folder
solutions i have not tried

reinstall>i haven't gotten around to it, get a feeling that it wont work, doesn't hurt to try

some...wierd thing with python> isn't that a linux thing? will using the python based solutions make a difference if you've never used python in your life?

sorry if i'm bothering anyone but my pesterchum won't open anymore. it worked once but when i tried opening it again the next day, it wouldn't. i even reinstalled it.

My version of Pesterchum is acting up... it won't let me add one specific handle... one I could've sworn i had before. It isn't appearing, and won't be added to my chumroll no matter what I do. The handle is bioReaver... is anyone else having an issue like this?

I'm having problems as well with Pesterchum, and tried Dave-Sprite's advice. It still didn't work for me.
Here's what's happening:
-everyone always appears offline
-I can message, but they do not receive the message
-I can't access "userlist" or nearly anything else that opens another window in the "client" section. (besides 'options.' That works fine.)
-continuously attempts to 'reconnect' even though I don't believe I'm connected initially.

My chumhandle is the same as my username here: aloofPhilomath.

I still haven't found a resolution to my problem. I've been seeking advice from outside of this forum as well, to no avail. If anyone could help me with some suggestions as to what to do. I can even open up a Skype chat with you and share my screen, if it would help. :[

Do you have any registered Karkat or Tavros alts in your chumroll? If you do for some reason the real canons will not be listed.

Yeah, I have quite a few, though that's kind of frustrating haha. I also have registered canon alts of Gazee, John, Dave etc, a lot of them. I like to bug the alts, so I'm kind of weirded out that those two are the casualties in this war. I'll give it a shot and see if I can get it weeded out which ones are causing the issue.

I'm having a problem with pesterchum as well. It worked a couple days ago and today it won't even start up. I've tried to run the debug too and it won't go. Pesterchum will show up in the processes on my task manager for about a second after i double click the shortcut but then it disappears and nothing happens. I've tried to run it in compatibility mode and that doesn't work either. My firewall can't be blocking it because it ran properly before and none of my firewall settings have changed. I've even tried to scan for viruses and I've turned up nothing. I really have no idea what's going on here. Can anybody help me?
