The only reason I thought the movie was good was that there was an earthquake in an earthbending fight scene.

So excited for Korra, I can't wait.

I think one of my favorite things about the series was how bending styles were based on real life martial arts. It made bending seem a lot more cohesive and real, somehow. Not just willy nilly waving your arms around like a crazy person.

I always loved the series, and the flowing, wonderful combat mixed with a kind of magical element was just perfect.
The fact that they choreographed every fight scene only further shows how much effort the creators put into the show.

Pretty much everything goes to show how much effort that put into it, though I think special mention should go to all the names and writing.

Fun fact: Aang's name is written so as to literally translate into "Peaceful soaring"

Yup. Tech in the Legend of Korra is equivalent to 1920s America. So that's not just cars, but electricity, a modern water system, and possibly telephones.

I heard something about matching the music to the time period?

Yep. "New Orleans jazz, if it was invented in China."

I cannot wait for Korra! I was a big fan of The Last Airbender, and watched every episode on TV when it came out, I also own the full 3 season box set, so yeah.
My favourite episode has to be the "The Tales of Ba Sing Se". Particularly Iroh's portion.

Iroh is pretty much the greatest mentor in the history of literature

I mean he's the only one that doesn't die, that's quite a few points right there.

Well, he's definitely dead by now.

...on a less black-humor note and more serious note, pretty much all the characters are dead by now. I mean, I'm aware everyone knows this, but it hit me again as I was typing that out and...I dunno what I thought after that.

I'm OK with it. Their grandkids are all in the new show (BUT WHO IS TOPH'S HUSBAND I NEED TO KNOOOOOOOOW).

I just hope they don't take that too far and go "this new character is functionally the same as the one you remember from the old show because he is descended from said old character" because that's dumb.

Of course the Avatar crew isn't exactly in the habit of doing dumb things. :U

IIRC Toph isn't dead and leads the city police.

    EDIT:
    Someone mentioned a pumpkin vendor?

Nope.avi. That's Toph's daughter. Still no idea who the father is. Tenzin's the only other legacy character, and he's taken the mentor role, and the only other one that could show up is whoever the current firelord is (or their children).

Really looking forward to the new season, hopefully it will be as good as the original.
And hopefully there will be no dickhair.

I can't wait for Spring to come because of this. Hopefully there won't be any delays to the series being aired. I hope it will air during that period of time in Holland too, and not later. :\

We still have absolutely nothing as far as airing times go, outside of the fact that it is scheduled to air in the fall of this year in Belgium.

Re: The Avatar: the Last Airbender / Legend of Korra Thread

Given the quality of the original Last Airbender series, I have high hopes for Korra. The team is sure to not disappoint, but I am very interested in seeing what aspects of the original series they touch upon. I'm also iffy on Korra as the protagonist; probably also the only person who didn't immediately like her. Even so, I'm sure she'll grow on me, just like poor, stupid Wang Fire.

Sandman, you're not the only one who didn't like her at first sight... I guess the first impression I got from Korra was a bit... too cocky?

I think that was the point, really. She's basically the opposite of Aang: fiery, aggressive, and not hesitating to kick someone in the face or throw people through windows. I like the dynamic, actually.

I guess that kind of threw me off quite a bit, though... Just doesn't appeal to me as much as Aang did. :/

Wait, how are you guys getting this? I've seen the trailer and read the Wiki entry with some vague character synopsis, was there like a leaked episode we're getting Korra's personality from?

Nah, I'm just letting first impressions from the trailer and random stuff I've seen online get to my brain. No secret leaked episode (I'm sorry to say)...
