    Legend of Korra: finale spoilers

Why is this not a thread already. Fora, I am dissipoint.

Whatever. Welcome all, welcome! If you were looking for threads about smurf-cat people and M. Night Shamalamadingdong, I'm afraid you're out of luck, but you're welcome for a cup of tea and a game of Pai Sho anyway.

Just in case there are those who haven't seen it yet, the Legend of Korra trailer.

So then, who's excited about Korra? I am super excite about Korra.

Also, taking Traditional East Asian History this semester could be the coolest thing ever, just because I see something in the lecture and I'm all like I know this!

    Last Airbender was pretty cool

    Korra looks pretty cool, too

    Any idea when it's debuting?

Next year, sometime. We hope. From what I've heard, the whole first season is done already. As in, it could air tomorrow and be fine. We just have to wait for the whims of Nickelodeon.

But, we are getting the first volume of the graphic novels that bridge the two series in January. Picks up pretty much exactly where the finale left off. By the time those are wrapped up we'll actuall know what happened to Zuko's mother.

Wait really? Awesome. I always thought it was super lame how they threw that into the finale when it was obviously the finale. I mean I had just assumed his mother was dead and pushing a massive cliff hanger into the very end of the show with no follow through seemed really dumb to me.

The graphic novel picks up quite literally within a minute of the finale ending. If my information is right, and I still believe it is, we get to see the end of the Zuko - Ozai conversation and everything. The whole thing is called The Promise, and there'll be three volumes. Most of the story is supposed to take place a year after the finale. It's going to be done by Gene Yuang (with Mike and Bryan). I've read another one of his books, and he's really good.

This was a very well-written show.

Looking forward to Korra as well.

I'm super excited for this. I used to watch Avatar the Last Airbender when I was young(er), and about two years ago I rediscovered it on Nickelodeon, actually payed attention to the show, and found out I really liked it. It quickly turned out to be one of my favorite shows at the time. The fact that there were no air Benders, or chapter of air always really bothered my OCD.

    A) Well, the lack of airbenders is sort of a major plot point. Not any more though: By the time of Korra, there are at least four. (Aang and Katara's son tenzin is one, and then he has three kids, all of whom can bend.)

    B) There was a leaked video of the opening sequence to Korra. Ended with the episode title, and what do you know, there's your Book 1: Air. There was no Book Air in the original series because he had already learned it. Book Air would be Aang's childhood.

    A) I know...that's something that would be little hard to miss if one watched the whole series.

    B) I wasn't wishing for an a Book Air, I just sort of expect things which follow an elemental motif like Avatar the Last Airbender to encompass all four elements in a particular group like the book chapters, not that I'm complaining or anything like that. I'm just saying it's something small I've noticed that didn't follow a pattern I expected it to, is all.

So I'm probably late to the discussion, but have you guys watched the opening of the Legend of Korra? It was just released a few days ago. Having immensely enjoyed Avatar in the past, I will be looking forward to this greatly.

Yeah, I saw the leaked opening. Then I flipped out in joy. I'm really glad that they used past Avatars as the intro this time, and the animation looks fantastic.

And Tenzin's got a pretty badass voice.

Re: The Avatar: the Last Airbender / Legend of Korra Thread

I've seen all 3 series of Avatar whenever they came on Nickelodeon years ago. Well, the last series came some time later. I only finished watching that one a bit more than a year ago.

    I'm certainly excited for Korra.

Just so everyone's got the low-down on what's going to be in Korra, have a list. I like lists. This is just what has been released so far, so they're minor spoilers if you're picky about those things.

But the real question is who is Toph's husband?

It has to be a new character, right? There weren't exactly any options for her introduced in the series (except for that silly one-sided crush she had for Sokka).

And I think Sokka ended up with Suki, so that's out too. Unless Nickelodeon has the guts to air some polyamory.

Katara is still alive--you see in her in the leaked clip of the first episode that went around tumblr.

It just occurred to me that the best person to have trained the Equalists would be the one chi blocker we know: Ty Lee.

Which is odd because she turned hero at the end of the series. I wonder what happened there?

The equalist movement seems like one of those "starts with good intentions, but then bad people come along" things. I mean, just look at the name.

And that's what we call a speed record. Probably you didn't have the 8 month delay in the middle of the third season.

It helps that I've been home, sick.

also now I can imagine any character in any fandom I want drawn in Avatar's art style which is kinda cool.
