That's true, but that also means he's had plenty of time to figure out how to integrate these unexpectedly important characters into his old plan. If a bunch of major characters just sort of kicked out of the story because they don't fit into a plan that was conceived before they were major characters, that would be pretty stupid, wouldn't it?

True, but John and Jade are in an entirely different universe, and Dave/Rose/the trolls do not. Dream bubbles would logically let them all communicate, and more importantly put them in enough proximity to talk

For all we know the Gift of Gab allows conversation to work normally as long as one member of the conversation has it.
