Quartetgrouped - The game begins in earnest

    User: Turn on "The Quartets".

Well of course you've turned it on. That's kind of obvious. You're hoping to play this thing, and are obviously confronted with THREE TWO options. Your last MEMORY CARD got thrown out by this weirdo called LEGENDARY. Also it was for the bad version of this game. Anyway. The OPTIONS are fine, so you don't even have THAT option. You'll just uh, start playing.

    User: Start a New Game.

Of course. Once again you're confronted with FAKE options. You're supposed to CHOOSE A CHARACTER, but only one is on the CHARACTER MENU right now. The other tabs are all blank. So yeah, you'll take control of this girl because really if you don't, the game cannot continue. And that's not any fun at all.

    User: Be the first girl.

You are now this GIRL. She is standing in her ROOM, because yes this is one of those ADVENTURES. She is in need of a name to begin her ADVENTURE! Unfortunately, government regulations have limited your choices somewhat. Both her FIRST and LAST name need eight letters.

Oh and one last thing: Good luck!

    Re: The Quartets

    Enter name.

Oh yeah, that's TOTALLY a name that a human being would have, DICKBAG.

    Try again.

Much better! That is exactly your name. It's nice to have NAMES. I mean, it's your FOURTEENTH BIRTHDAY. You should definitely have a name by now.

User: Tell Sam to examine room (and then become Sam again).

You'll excuse me if I direct you every now and again. I assure you that my INFLUENCE upon your actions is less railroading and more ensuring that this story PROGRESSES without you having to constantly tell me to ZOOM IN or OUT to ensure you have a good view of SCOPE. Other examinations of course, will require your OWN DIRECTIONS. Because I'm not that nice. No one is.

As Sam, it is your BIRTHDAY. This is AUGUST TWELFTH, 2011. You do not think today will be different from ANY OTHER DAY. Your GUARDIAN is not rich enough to supply you with much in the realm of FRIVOLITIES or PARTIES. In fact both of you are poor indeed, which limits the scope of your INTERESTS. You have a love for ART, especially FAMOUS PAINTINGS. This does not stop you from attempting your own SKETCHES and SCULPTURES, and well... you're getting BETTER, you guess? You also have an extensive collection of LITERATURE. All of the GREATS. Finally, you enjoy playing with COMPUTERS. It's not something you can do often, but it's a thing.

American Gothic should always, always be accompanied by Whistler's Mother

Samantha ==> Head to corner of the room and toggle that light switch! Do you use the glow in the dark stars to help decorate?

You also left a book open. You should use a bookmark so that you don't lose your place later!

    The Floating Country, my WHATAMIDOINGventure!
The Human Inequality, AKA the adventure I'm actually working on right now. where 'right now' means 'more recently than the other'
Also, you should look at It's Anyone's Game, and possibly update it! Cause it's awesome like that.
    Also formspring because why not.

    Sam: Examine desk top.

It's got a LOT of stuff on it. The thing obscured by your head is a LITTLE SHEET OF POETRY. Off on the other side of the desk is a collection of SKETCHES you had but got frustrated with so you SCRIBBLED THEM OUT. The sculpture is quite finished, because it's a commentary on how humans feel INCOMPLETE. You're not very good with SYMBOLISM (and maybe a tad melodramatic). The last book is a QUOTATIONS BOOK, which you've filled out yourself.

"The age in which we live is one of over-organization and over-regimentation. These are fast reducing large numbers of men and women to the condition of mental slaves; men and women willing to abandon their most precious gift, that of free thinking, to sell their birthright for a pottage of lentils! And yet without inward freedom man ceases to be man. Freedom is the essence of human progress, and, deprived of it, man stagnates and degenerates.

"The challenge of the modern age is above all the challenge to man's freedom of thought. Men are not machines; no, not even 'thinking' machines. Men, to be men, must retain their freedom of thought. This alone makes them moral beings. For no action which is not voluntary can be regarded as moral."

That's something JAMES T. KIRK, famous FRENCH PHILOSOPHER wrote. Probably.

    Sam: Admire bedsheets.

How can you not? They are your SMILING COMPANIONS, bringing joy to CHILDREN and YOUNG TEENAGERS the world over. Except the PIRATE. He's kind of weird. And you're not sure about the SAD ONE.

Oh god that one stares into YOUR SOUL, reminding you that DEATH is INEVITABLE and will find you even in your SLEEP. You never want to be in that bed again!

Sam: Head to corner of room and toggle that light switch!

It's kind of a LAMP, but okay. Also, it was OFF, so now it's ON. Also, it's really SHITTY and provides next to no ILLUMINATION whatsoever. You think that Edison made that light bulb in there by hand.

For the record, you have NO glow in the dark anything. It would illuminate the GRIM FACE of DEATH upon your mortifying BEDSHEETS.

By the way, one thing that might help you get more commenters would be putting this adventure onto mspfanventures.com.

Personally, I thought A Simple Little Game's art style was fine- it reminded me of certain computer games I've played. Maybe some people will prefer this one, 'though.

    Re: The Quartets

Sam: Look at the STOLEN PRICELESS WORKS OF ART on your wall. Being an art thief sure is hard work!

What??? No! No no no no no that's not it at all! None of these are stolen! They're not PRICELESS either, except in the sense that no one would buy them! See how none of them have frames? They're POSTERS of famous paintings, and you've cobbled them all together at garage sales and things like that. You would never ever steal priceless art. You're not much of a thief. This isn't even an ironic statement that will be proven wrong later. You're not a THIEF. For real.

But, since you pointed them out, let's look them over. There's AMERICAN GOTHIC and STARRY NIGHT on your left, and of course THE MONA LISA LA GIACONDA and THE PERSISTENCE OF MEMORY on your right. You are of course facing THE SCREAM. Would you believe the painting is tempura on cardboard? Cardboard!

Sam: You left a book open. You should use a bookmark so that you don't lose your place later!

Of course! You retrieve a BOOKMARK from your SYLLADE- Oh yeah. You don't have a SYLLADEX. This is the downside of being poor. Reality-altering electronic cards that temporarily spit in the face of CONSERVATION OF MATTER aren't really something that you can afford. You have hands though. And pockets. But you don't have a BOOKMARK in there. This is massively inconvenient.

    Sam: Look at other walls.

You move off to the side and flip the PERSPECTIVE around, revealing a fresh set of paintings, and also that that one piece of furniture that couldn't be viewed properly before is in fact a CHEST OF DRAWERS. Just for the record.
