No, that's pretty much exactly what I was thinking of I guess. I didn't know FETO allowed for what I'm calling custom classes though. If it's still going I guess I'll have to check it out some time.
And regarding Wyvern Knights: Can't you just, y'know, not use weapons that cause the pierce glitch? I like pegs and all but I'd rather have a unit with superior stats even if it meant dropping swords and ranged lances. I just don't think something with such a small chance of happening (I always promote Vanessa into a Wyvern Knight, it's not like I don't see the glitch happen), that can also be completely avoided, is worth completely ruling out a class. Although the peg turning into a wyvern thing does bug me. Is this supposed to imply that wyverns are the natural evolution of pegasi?
eh I just don't like wyvern knights because I like having flying units capable of picking off rangers so that weaker units or units with no resist don't get owned; and a FalcoKnight with a Delphi Shield fits that bill better than Wyvern Knights because ranger includes magic and doubled magic damage kind of... hurts

Well there were a few others. Barth (FE6) - you get 3 knights, and he's the worst of them
Wallace (FE7) - Great character but really, if you're using him you're already doing it wrong
FE6 Marcus for Bad-Jeigan status
and some others I'm probably forgetting as far as bad elibe units
but this was just worst unit period
throughout all the games
What other really terrible units are there... Ewan without Valni
uh... Everyone who isn't Marth in Shadow Dragon DS (not literally but I mean in comparison)
Lessee... uh... Echidna of FE6 I GUESS...
I'd say both Stats, difficulty to obtain, and general comparison to other units of the same class factor in.
Hence why Renault is absolute shit (I mean really - Level 16 with a necessity to go ACROSS THE MAP (which could kill your chances of getting the last Kishuna gaiden unless you send a flier over that way and in Hector's Story, RANGERS spawn over that way) to recruit, terrible Mag and Luck, even worse growths, and exactly 3 chapters in which to level up... 1 of which he's utterly useless because guess what KISHUNA CHAPTER!)

I've only played the Shadow Dragon remake but yes his stats are terrible. According to the wiki his stats are only on average 1 point higher than Cain and Abel's in the original game. I remember in Shadow Dragon he's only a tiny bit better and he's the best choice of decoy(sacrifice) unit in the prologue thing.
Isn't Ewan more of an Est sort of guy though? Not as easily evident as Nino but still, pretty sure.
I hate to do it but I have to nominate Ardan for crap unit of FE4. Decent stats, yes, but no Pursuit and the lowest mobility of all your units make him pretty difficult to use at all. The later levels give you more opportunities to let him shine but by then he's usually horribly under-leveled. He does get that Pursuit ring though, right? Well, still, not like anyone would let him keep it except to pass on to a child.
Oh, and definitely putting Fiona and Meg up there for Radiant Dawn. I was all excited to get Fiona because BLEU ARMOR and then I realized how terrible she was. Didn't even bother with Meg until my second playthrough, but gave up on her pretty quickly.
Thanks, but I've got way more than ten nominees now!
Complain when the poll goes up.
Seems that's impossible! Welp, just going to put in a vote for Tormod, who joins at level one when Soren and the rest of your party is promoted or about to. Like Ewan, but there's no Valni to abuse in FE9.

Est units are generally pretty terrible from an "I don't care how short Nino's skirt is" perspective. There's pretty much no reason to use them unless you make the conscious decision to train them up.
Ewan aggravates this by starting off in the negative levels and not being a cute girl.
When talking about terrible units, you have to go with FE6. FE6's gimmick is that nearly everyone sucks rear end. Even the good characters usually don't hold a candle to their FE7 counterparts. Overall lovely growth rates, every single map objective being Seize, and some incredibly stupid maps will do that.
FE10, for me, is #2 for terrible characters. Leonardo, Sothe, Fiona, Meg...pretty much half of the Dawn Brigade. Every single Laguz that isn't a royal. I mean, come on.
Long story short, FE10 punishes you by giving you under-leveled units. FE6 punishes you by giving you some of the worst units in the series, comparatively speaking. Units that would be mediocre in any other FE would be gods among men.
Yeah, the dawn brigade is a lot of trouble in Part 3 because of all the bad character or the low level. But I tried Meg once in normal difficulty and she ended up as the 4th best unit at the end of the game. And she maxed every stats in her few last levels exept for the magic. She also managed to fight Ike pretty well in the chapter were you need to protect a castle he's attacking (can't remember what chapter exactly).
All this talk of Renault and Yodel reminds me...
Oliver.
No, I know he's far from completely useless (they had Renault and Yodel and others to learn from after all), just....
Oliver.
I'm pretty sure when I recruited him the first time I couldn't help but think 'Wow. This is stupid. Why is he alive? Why was he important enough to bring back?'
eh, I still love the handheld games the most because portable~
which is part of why I'm totally jealous of people who got ambassador FE8 and why i REALLY want FE:Awakening (which, coincidentally, is FE11, right)
