She is Belleropha Geryon, a Captain from the Chimeran Space Fleet, and she is in a bad situation.



It started with being forced to attend a meeting with a foreign diplomat who kept asking why she doesn't have a goat head on her back.



Then, she was assigned courier service and sent to a barren planet, as if she were some sort of common mailman.



And the people at the outpost did not even have a cargo ready! It turns out her squad had to extract it from some sort of ancient ruins. Once inside, the carvings on the wall came alive. She should have guessed.


On the way out of the temple, they were ambushed by a robber gang who called themselves the Pir-Eights. (Well, THEY called themselves the Pirates, but she decided that naming them "Pir-Eights" was the only way to make their logo make sense.)
The Pir-Eights... err, Pirates had some sort of shield that protected them from aerial attacks, rendering her ship's weapons ineffective.
Right now, she and her squad is under heavy, but still rather ineffectual fire. Oh god, it looks like one of them is shooting SIDEWAYS. Belle suspects that they might be only trying to stall her team.



The squad is scattered inside the ruins, its outskirts, or firing from the parapets. A handful of them are on the ship circling above. She is in radio contact with all of them.

Maybe you can sort of anger some of those carvings and then hide so they charge out and distract the pirates for you

What have wrapped around your tell?

Radio the ship crew for cover fire while you and the others try to retreat toward the ship. Check yourself for the absence of any new menace.

Seeing that there is no chance for escape, Belle sent her squad back inside the Idiot Ruins, and commanded the ship to cover them. The ship's weapons might have been worthless, but they did manage to scare the pirates.

Maybe you can sort of anger some of those carvings and then hide so they charge out and distract the pirates for you

Belle thought that she could use the carving guardians to her advantage. Once she took the artifact (referred to as The Idiot Ball from now on), some of them has actually turned friendly, in a disconcerting way. Perhaps they could be tricked to help you.




Belle has went back to check on the team guarding the Ball. Since the carvings and drawings could never completely detach themselves from the walls and have deemed to be unable to walk on the ceilings and floors, this room was deemed safe enough for keeping the artifact. It is not located far from the entrance, so you might have to push back a bit. One of the ramps lead up to the top floor where your four snipers resided. The other ramp leads to the underground levels of the building, four other squad members are located there to keep an eye on the carvings. Two privates stayed behind near the gates to stand guard.

Nfact #1: These ruins used to be the Idiot Savant King's Palace. It was the center of the greatest empire in Derpian history, the Savantian Dynasty. Old poems claim that the King was a savant who always knew what the people wished for. Other stories claim that the King was an Idiot who was just following the pressure of the majority. What they both agree that the king spent too much time drawing monsters on the wall.
Nfact #2: Belle doesn't know that the place is actually called Idiot Ruins.

Hmm if they can't fully detach from the walls you'd have to lure all of the pirates inside to take much advantage of them, I guess that plan is a bust.
I guess maybe you could just hole up in here until they get bored and leave? No guarantee that'll be soon though and you might not have enough supplies.
