OMNIA: Chapter 8: Three Unwise Men

Lucian hesitates before continuing. "I won't lie. I'm afraid. Hell, I'm doing my best not to panic. But... I've stuck with you guys so far. I'm not gonna back out now. Count me in."

A god had already provided assistance earlier, I thought

You mortal types still have my miracle hanging around for when you might need it. All the help I can offer. Maybe it'l convince a leader that showing you where the crystal is, is a good idea!

Jack scratches his chin, and nods solemnly.
I understand now. You all are willing to lay down your lives for your purposes. Lucian, you feel motivated by your sense of duty to see your assignment through to it's completion, but it's becoming much more than that, and in the end, your entire world will be tipped upside down. You may not emerge the same namean. Cassius, I believe you are motivated by hope. Hope that one day, your creator could be found. Hope that he isn't as bad as people paint him to be. Hope that if he is, you can save him. And sitrah... Hold on.

That's not right at all.

He walks over to sitrah, and grabs the ruby god eye, yanking it off with a snap. He looks at it with a firey anger, as though he had just found out an important fact.


... Gods... GODS DAMN IT. IT WAS A FUCKING BEACON.
With a growl, he stares towards the group, then snaps back to the beacon.
The man who gave you this... He never existed. Whatever lies he spun you were convincing enough to provoke memories you never had. He duped you into delivering supplies to cultists. That necklace? A focus. Needed to be at the epicenter of great magics. You should have died, wearing this...
With a spiteful stare, the cursed necklace burns into ash.

He lets out a heavy sigh, and turns to rick.
You never stray from your promises? Good. Make one more to me. Find out the truth behind this. Find out what's really going on, while combating dius. He's more powerful then before, and it seems he's learned from his lessons, but...
Jack extends his hand, and a manly handshake ensues between the two men. In rick's hand, appears a necklace similar to the ruby god eye, though it's silver with a blue center, and it glows more kindly.
Sapphire Eye of Creation. It will let the user be more... Selective, about processing miracles. Though... It's not natural, that. The reason duonians can do it is because the forces only consume their kernels. The device runs on your lifeforce... Your very essence. It refills of course, but... You can die. And if you die because of it... You're gone for good. Your soul is destroyed, and, to my knowledge, you'd be trapped in an alternate reality where you're powerless... It's a fate I experienced once. And one I'd never like to do again... But I'm holding you four up. Please. You need to hurry. Time passes extremely fast here. It's already been months down on the mortal plane. You can contact me through the eye, if you need me, but... I can't save you. Not until your hour of greatest despair. We don't know when it is, but we can guarantee we'll be there when it happens. Now go, chosen, and go save the fucking world for me.
With a nod, our group heads through the orange-red portal, stepping into nothing...

Sudden blackness. Eternal void. It feels like water, and fire. Souls being moved from plane to plane. Forwards in time.

Forces unseen, plotting. Watching.

Viewing.

The eternal melancholy comedy of life causes the world to keep turning.

The willpower of the few protects the many.

And in a universe set free by a mighty force...

Is rendered useless. Liquid spirit washes over the four. The four fall, for what seems like forever.

In reality, it's only been a few months.

But at last, they land, no impact, no noise to mark their arrival, just...

Existence.

Foomsh.

The world greets the four, and the four greet it with their presence.

Deja Vu. The city in front of them is gone. It is ruins, long smouldered.

Time has passed. 3 Months. The world is in a state of chaos.

Monstrosities roam Nu Earth, devouring. Consuming. Converting.

Every day their ranks rise, and yet, they fall. Equilibrium is established. Governments are thrown into disarray. Extremist groups emerge. But...

The four do not know this. They have not existed for over 3 months. Instead, they now stand where they began...

Well, I guess the best idea right now would probably be to head to the nearest town, since I'd imagine there wouldn't be much left in the ruins after 3 months.

as the chosen re-orient themselves back on the mortal plane of reality, they deem it fit to check their supplies promised to them. Reaching into the Extra-Dimensional Inventory now constantly within their reach, they find:

Cassius takes a spellbook and starts reading. "Gee I sure hope this thing has a guide on magic for dummies."

In their quick readthroughs, the magic books deem it fit (according to the current power of their readers) to bequeath:

Spatial Funnel (redirect projectiles, amongst other things!)
Barrier II (A stronger barrier, now capable of sustaining 2)
Rejuvenate Injury (Heal things, properly this time)

CASSIUS LEARNED:
Radiation Bolt (Fires a bolt of energy equivalent to a punch)
Geiger Counter (Locate hazardous materials invisible to the naked eye, and monitor radiation levels)
Gamma Touch (Irradiate enemies with your touch, weakening bones or muscle)

Well, we might as well get on with it. Did you remember to bring the axes? I hear the humans are quite resil- Oh.

You're not snake people at all. Disregard that previous statement, and... just who the hell are you?

That skull seems pretty important. I wonder where Jack got it from and why he thought it would be useful for us.
