At least for me, the update/text immediately before a flash is always the hardest, since it has to establish the mood/tone for the upcoming flash. I typically spend an entire day being indecisive over exactly what that tone will be before I'm able to settle on something. Once I've got it, though, the rest of the writing comes pretty easy. It took me a little longer this time since I knew I was going to have an entire update before the flash, setting it up.

At this rate I'm expecting the walkaround to be done today or tomorrow. Given I started logging my progress on the 21st, I guess it will have taken me... maybe 12 days? That's pretty coo', but with less TF2 I probably could've done it in a week.
So you ARE doing the walkaround thing.
And the 4chan thread pushed my statement aside like it was nothing.

    SPEAKING OF 4CHAN:
New topic: Forum Adventures you've seen/done on other forums.
I started this nonsense a few hours ago.
You'll probably only get it if you're a regular 4chan-goer, though.

I made this on a different forum ages ago and then reposted the finished adventure here.

Does one that acts like a webcomic count? If so, I've been reading this one for a while.

Quick question: How would you folks handle time loops (unstable or otherwise)?

    I'm

kind of flabbergasted by your confidence while asking that question, like, how do you guys handle protagonists being assaulted by shape-shifting ninja politicians, especially during the elections period? Or, how do you guys even manage to write competent congresswoman that are able to cope with nuclear based abilities, fighting tissue paper themed villains at night and being a single mother? Specially during Pms.

When did something so oddly specific and complicated become standard?

People in the future will stumble upon my post count and will prolly go "this guy... this guy probably had a good time in these forums" Maybe they'll even go ahead and joke about my post count giving me super powers and some other -definitely not tired out- hilarious remarks.

    You just don't understand.

While time travel is a pretty rare thing in adventure settings, I am sure there must be a couple of authors around on this thread who use it.

I dunno. By the time it is The Future, we will probably have used up all the good jokes about post counts; they are a non-renewable resource.

Unless you know something about The Future that I don't. *suspicious look*

Time travel is an easy plot device to get roped into, but not think through entirely.

I guess the main concern is to consider how you believe time should flow in that universe to be consistent. The alternate time lines way of going about things helps reduce the worry of time paradoxes. You just have to live with the knowledge that you have created doomed timelines, but in the grand scheme of things, there are infinite more timelines that are "Doomed" so it's not like you personally put the nail in their coffin. That's just how time goes yo.

Other than that though, it depends on how you're planning on utilizing that device.

I think time travel is hella awesome. It borders on being a fetish.

That said, I never really bothered doing complicated time shenanigans. I mean, I like my time travel convoluted, I guess. Really, it depends on what flavor time travel you want to use.

Re: MSPAFA Chat 8: Always Practice Good Posterization

Typically, I just avoid the whole issue and say that time travel is impossible in the universe the story is taking place in, however, it is going to be a plot point in one of my adventures. Even then, though, I'm still avoiding the issue by having the time traveling character not interfere with the timeline and not reveal the presence of time travel until after any potential paradoxes could occur.

For me, Time Travel IS my fetish. If a person plans on being my significant other, they better like Time Travel or it's a deal breaker.

I've always tinkered with the idea of Time Travel in all of my story ideas. Not all of them come out with Time Travel being in them, but it's always fun to think of the possibilities.

My mind has now been sent rapidly down avenues I never wished to tread, concerning the fetishistic applications of time travel

I suppose a lot of it depends on which of the two stereotypical choices you would make were you to meet an exact duplicate of yourself

Unfortunately the time traveller in question has just landed smack-bang in the middle of the very first panel of the adventure.

Somebody suggested retconning the adventure to include the altered panels, haha, but that'd confuse and annoy the heck out of everybody!

Start an alternate adventure (new thread, new mirror) for this new timeline. It's the most logical way to metahandle it, and it's the kind of experimentation this support allows.

    I still don't have a mirror, actually!

I should REALLY get on that, but I don't use visible commands, just try to let the thread flow organically... whilst still responding to users in the body of the text. Which would be problematic if I just sporked the posts over unaltered, because some things would seem like awful non-sequitors.

Well you could always just leave every "> Command" thing as the default ==>

    Yeah, but... if it went:

You deliver Gertz a VICIOUS DRUBBING with your foot.

He doesn't seem very bothered, for some reason. Conveniently, his sprite also flipped as he turned away in disinterest.

    ==>

Why would GERTZ have a C in his name?

Oh, the hat? That's just part of the job description. It's required because of your boss and his funny obsession with certain articles of clothing. But it's worth it, for the perks!

    What IS your job, anyway?

...It wouldn't make much sense without a rewrite of most panels!

    So

    Hi guys

I wandered off away from the forum again while being busy with various mystery things, and i come bearing my usual question. I require recommendations of cool new adventures that have cropped up recently to read. I NEED TO GORGE MY BRAIN WITH COMICAL THINGS.

    Eeww, Jacq, you pervert.

Why would I want to meet myself when I could meet Teddy Roosevelt?

Paranoir and Naturia look to be fairly promising
Priscilla is not a new adventure but it is newly revived from an extended hiatus

But wouldn't it be selfish only allowing one of my time periods the privilege of meeting Teddy Roosevelt when I could be there three times as often??

Granted, if you wanted to wrassle with Teddy you would need three of yourselves.

One cannot wrassle with Teddy Roosevelt. You cannot grasp the true form of Teddy Roosevelt's wrassling techniques. It is so incomprehensibly manly that it makes crocodiles flip over and submit themselves to capture.

On the subject of time travel, I stand by the simple premise of not making things ridiculously complicated. Not only is it hard to keep track of yourself, but it can confuse and isolate readers as well. I mean just look at the LoZ timelines HEYOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH
It's kind of inevitable for me to face it since one of the main characters in my adventure/future game/thing utilizes the power of time travel, but I try not to make it useful often enough for it to be stupid. There's a major plot point where you get out of a jam because your future self saves you, then at a later point you have to go back and save your past self using all your new suped-up shit. It becomes kind of complicated when things like that happen, so I try not to take them too far. Again, keep it simple.
