So I have been pondering there backstory of Fiore and Cervantes and I come up with a conclusion. So they lived at the time of pneumonia probably or a whole new disease and to save themselves Cervantes made a deal with a voodoo shaman. Problem was Cervantes's ritual went wrong and he became a day walker. He might be less stronger than the average fully grown vampire but has perks, or Fiore was the wrong one altogether.
