On the surface, the country seemed to have many different communication companies.
Some of them dabbled in more than one side of the business, such as phones as well as package delivery, but there was always healthy competition in any information-based field.
This was an illusion. In reality one company, Posteco, controlled every single thing even vaguely related to the business of communication.
Every little startup was quickly either bought out or, if they refused, destroyed somehow.
It's no wonder that such a company might have enemies.
In the early morning hours, before the sun had even risen, a team of malefactors took control of one of the main office hubs of the company. Now, one office stolen would hardly stagnate the operations of such a huge business. The problem was the information the miscreants were in possession of. How else would you threaten a post company but with blackmail? The demands were made completely anonymously, of course. And with the security cameras completely destroyed, all the management could do was wait on tenterhooks as the situation developed.
They managed to get one message through, however.
"Kill the perpetrators, or your lives will be forfeit along with theirs."

Inside the building, it was chaos as well.
None of them doubted the proclamation, and even those that had turned a blind eye to the shady dealings in the past couldn't ignore the reality of their current situation.
Few of them were willing to take sole responsibility for a person's death, and even fewer trusting enough to think that the killer would surely not be one of the criminals they were attempting to kill.
No, they must do this democratically.
Suggestions were quickly made and thrown out. While the industrial-grade paper shredder was efficient, it was a bitch to clean, not to mention slightly inhumane.
Eventually they managed to come back to the traditional approach, the noose.
And so began the lynchings.

5) As an extension of Rule Three, please do not talk to people not in the game. I may need them to replace in the future, and even if they do not, I would prefer for them to not have any knowledge that I have not sanctioned. If they (or you) feel that they need (or want) certain information, contact me and they MAY be granted access to the observer quicktopic.
6) No ciphers except those which have been approved by me.
7) Please Bold your Votes! As well as this, please also try to remember to unvote when you change your votes. Expect votals to be player generated, and if I or anyone else makes a mistake in them, please come forward and correct it.
8) No posting in the thread at night. Exceptions are made for lynched people to make a single “bluh” post with perhaps a “good luck” and a “have fun”, but with no information included!
9) After you die, you may make 1 (one) “bluh” post containing no information.
10) I'm generally amicable to extending deadlines, but you should assume that unless I say otherwise, when its scheduled to end it will end. If a no lynch or missed night action occurs, so be it. Mandatory actions will be randomized if a target is not selected.
11) Do not massclaim. I have attempted to make this very unlikely to help you.
12) Make at least one post per game day. If you do not adhere to this rule without prior forewarning, you can and will be replaced. Ideally you should post every 24 hours or so rather than every game day.
13) No direct copy/pasting from QuickTopics or Roles. Paraphrasing is fine, but don’t quote.
14) “Karkat-Rule” – don’t fake day-activations you don’t have.
15) “Karkat Rule 2” – If a day activation that ends the day is claimed, act as though the day has ended, at least until I have posted otherwise.
16) Play to your win condition, but
17) Above all, have fun, and do not get in the way of others having fun. This overrides even rule 16.

I'd tentatively be willing to play if this isn't starting for a few days at least. I'm in arguably too many mafia games as it is, but I'll manage. Probably.
