Re: Geosian. [BEGUN, OR BEGAN. OR BEGONE.]

    MAGIC, HOBBIES.

Well, what type of magic? You do know quite a range.

In general, you are good at non-advanced stuff, simple spellforms and general elemental shapings and the easily weaponised stuff. It was, in fact, what you spent a large amount of your time doing at the Guild.

Your hobbies included magic, specifically alchemy (students were encouraged to have a supplementary-to-syllabus hobby of some form), basic divination and working neurotically on reducing your Signature.

You even remember your final lower exams. You used the most complicated piece of alchemy you could find in the textbook, adjusted it slightly and presented it as proof of skill and ingenuity. You don't recall how well it did.

    SKY.

Erm, there's just clouds and the Luna Sanguis.

    BOAT. BELONGINGS.

You have found a bunch of broken bottles of various types, and a vial of dark blue opaque liquid with some runes on the cork usually used for preserving food and alchemical reagents. Personally, you hoped for some food, but hey, it might be useful.

You can't sense any magic coming off it, but it is in a glass vial.

    ROCKET?

You don't know what a rocket is, so you turn to look at the tower.

It looks a bit weird, and something about it pulls on something at the back of your brain, but otherwise it appears to be a normal tower.

Do a nice 360 look around to see all of your surroundings. Check to see if you can go in the following directions:

    NORTH
    SOUTH
    EAST
    WEST
    UP (Vertically)
    DOWN (Vertically)
    DOWN STAIRS (bro)

Head towards the tower, it seem to be the only place of interest here.

    ISLAND SURROUNDINGS. CIRCUMSTANCES. EXPLORATION.

You take a look around, and see that all the flat methods of moving are available to you, so no UP or DOWN.

The island is fairly small, and you have utterly no idea how you got here. There are no trees and the only features are the beaches and the tower.

You took a look round earlier in the day and didn't find anything interesting.

    BOAT WRITING.

You don't know what it says, but it looks like Gauntic. Or Kreakian.

You didn't ever do too well at languages.

    FIRE.

    Burn! Hahahahahahahaha!

    It burns!

    TOWER.

You head over to the tower.

This doesn't look ominous at all...

This image of avatar excellence was brought to you by MrPeach32, with greeny bits by ashdenej. Pretty much the only part I did was this signature.

    Re: Geosian. [MAGIC AND SKIES]

    TOWER. BONES. SOUTH.

You head towards the tower, calling that arbitary direction SOUTH for the moment. You could use the angle of the sun, but since you woke up, the sun hasn't noticably moved.

You select some manner of femur from the bones around the tower. There are all sorts of creature in a dead and decomposed state near the ashy area, which has a very low ambient Life magic level and a weird Decay level, despite all the dead things. There are also bits of armour and weapons around, although the whole, untarnished weapons are the suspicious ones. You don't want your hands eaten by a Ninth self-repairing weapon.

The tower, because of all these magical disrepancies, seems to belong to some form of (antisocial) wizard or mage. This is probably fortuitous, as they will know how to get back to civilisation.

    PURPLE THINGS.

They fail to ignite, although they accept your magic, so you take a closer look with a form of disjointed perspective.

They look like artificial gems of some sort, made of a small amount of Midnight Crystal mixed with some form of quartzy stone. They appear to be used to move large amounts of magical energy around.

Re: Geosian. [IT'S A WIZARD TOWER.]

    KNOCK ON DOOR.

There is a gigantic door in the side of the tower. You circle round to it, warily stepping over dead things.

You pull the doorbell-thingy, a deep ringing noise echoing around the nearby low hills and the interior of this tower.

    ???: Enter.

    END CHAPTER ONE: GREY AISLES.

    INTERMISSION

    ???: Quick intermission.
???: As my more laconic colleague says, it is the intermission, which basically consists of me and it talking for a bit.
???: Next person not adventurer, bureaucrat. Politician.
???: The short escapades on the Grey Isles, specifically the Isle of-
???: No words. Seer will not elaborate.
SEER: Hmph. The next character is one of the many bureaucrats that ensure the continued running of Lathia. The city holds the Mage Guild, the current and previous Ilritic and a thriving population of vampires in the old sewers.
    ???: That contradicts Soulless.
SEER: The Soulless was trying to mislead, although it told the truth. Anyway, the next person is deeply relevant to the adventurer, and is going to be, for a short while, the person through whom the story is told.
???: Is one who could talk down to gods.
SEER: Is that really relevant, oh brief one?
    ???: Yes.
SEER: I should have seen that coming.
???: Ha. Good joke. You are blind.
SEER: I don't see you having eyes, either.
    ???: Start second chapter.

    END INTERMISSION.

    CHAPTER TWO: THE FRYING PAN.

A member of an unknown species sits at his desk, glowering at red smoke coming off his finger.

There's not much else to say.

    What is his name?

So I assume this is one of the ninth? Although if so, I wonder what the red smoke is. Possibly it originated from that red-looking thing on the desk?

Nevertheless, he shall be called Hrayr Thorsra

He's not a Ninth. If I said the name of his race, it would rather spoil one of the things that ??? said in the Intermission.

So in the first post you said there were 10 main races. Would this be considered a sub race then? OR IS THIS ONE OF THE ILRITIC?!?!?!?! =O

I'm afraid the Ilritic don't exist. They're just a rumour put about by old men magicians who remember the empire too well, and anyway he's not an Ilritic, he doesn't have a Mark.

And yes, he's a sub-race member, but it's not one of the 'minion races'.

(note: the only things that never lie in this are the faceless people that I've roped in to announce the things.)

    ENTER NAME.

No. Just because you're a... you, it doesn't mean that you have a massive pretentious name.

And Lathia doesn't have a mayor.

    TRY AGAIN.

Your name is Hrayr Indaigot, and you are the head administrator of the Lathian beauracratic workings of the Ruler's palace, government, public services and 'The Proper Running Of The Town Guard' (You delegate for that bit). This is your office.

You are a member of a long-lived species that come from a village far to the west, deep in the forests in the cleft between two giant mountains. As such, they don't get out much and you have only ever seen one other of your species in the city, and he's your cousin anyway. You have been manning this post for almost thirty-four cycles, meaning that you are the second longest serving member of any professon in the city, which probably entitles you to some sort of badge.

You are currently awaiting your unofficial magic advisor, the son of the current court mage, who is busy fetching people to see if there is any solution to what happened to a certain Igzyl Scrinway, a young magician who has recently disappeared after an ancient artifact was activated suddenly in the Mage Guildhall.

If all lines of enquiry are exhausted, there is one other option, but you'd really like to turn to that last.

While he's off fetching people, what do you do? Are there any questions about what you have said?
