Those may be my favorite art for any cycle ever. If they are able to, I want them to sell these as keychains or something similar.
I like them a lot. And a big "haha" to everyone who thought the signets were getting reprinted.
But yeah, its a shame that the Izzet one isn't that great compared to the others. I know looting is an ability in red and blue now, but why does it seem like Izzet is getting a lot of cards for it? I guess it kinda fits the flavor, but, eh.
quoting this so we have the image on this page.
Actually, I think the selesnya one might be the worst of the 4 (where's the azorious one?). a 3 mana 3/3 that you have to pay 2 to turn into a creature? I don't know too many g/w decks that would want it, since most decks will top out at 3-5 cmc, so what are you ramping to, and if you're ramping why do you want a random 3/3? The b/r one provides a nice blocker along with your ramp (first strike is better than 3 toughness, since you can kill a 3/3 and survive (don't know what good 3/3s there are in this format though)) and control decks are usually hungry for mana so they'd like both this and the izzet one. The izzet one might be better, since it provides an opportunistic attack that lets you dig further, while providing the primary use of mana. Golgari prevents people from attacking you with a big thing, which is nice.
I was about to say that the 3/3 Wolf makes a good creature to Populate with, but then I realized it wasn't a token. That'd be an interesting thought though, could you have a card that isn't a token somehow be considered as one?
well THIS guy is a good populate target.
Also... snap...caster?
Welp, that dude spoiled practically the entire set. Exciting, but at the same time kinda sad, not much to look forward to except the prerelease itself now. I wonder if Wizards gets really mad at this stuff or if they figure its just kind of inevitable.
At least I can actually put some deck ideas onto paper now instead of floating around in my head though. I'm thinking either RU Guttersnipe (will probably end up being mostly burn and Izzet tricks), or RWU Goblin Tokens (White for Phantom General and Intangible Virtue, because it looks like Electrickery and Izzet Staticaster will simply ruin tokens with 1/1, Blue for Electromancer and some of the Izzet tricks). Any thoughts?
Edit:
Okay slapping down my RW Goblins ideas, dropped blue cause I didn't think it was worth fitting in.

If I thought Mono Red goblins was fun, that deck is even more fun. Too bad no Warcheiftan though.
Here is my current Post Rotation deck without any new stuff spoiled recently added in. It is an Esper Token deck.
Any suggestions on things to add? I want to stay away from green for now, even though it has great things, so I may build a GWB(u?) Token deck in the future also.
Maybe some of the Instant Populaters would be good, to copy your GoST Angel. Rootborn Defenses is pretty nice, Trostani's Judgment is okay but kinda expensive. Sundering Growth would be a decent choice over Erase, you'd need WW for it but it covers enchantments and artifacts, and gives a free Populate. Not sure about the non-populate choices, maybe Phantom General, technically an anthem on a stick, which could be good or bad.
Threw together ideas for my RU Guttersnipe now, but I'm still 10 spells over, need suggestions tweaking number and adding/removing cards. Curiosity isn't an instant or sorcery, but it gives so much more card advantage than anything else, since attached to Guttersnipe its basically play a spell, draw a card.
I would cut out one counterpart, one dissipate, and I think spelltwine, even though it is good, is too expensive for that kind of deck.
I was going to lower Bloodline Keeper in my deck to 2 and maybe one Doomed Traveler to include two Phantom General's.
My plan:
T1 Traveler
T2 Anthem
T3 Haunting or souls/traft
T4 I can Double Anthem, flashback and anthem, Blood Artist and FB, Bloodline, Sorin, or Phantom General. Swing with any tokens out.
T5 just keep producing and attacking, while responding to things with Tragic slip or Detention Sphere.
The reason Spelltwine was of interest to me is that it literally says cast the copies instead of just copying them, so I'm assuming it'd be a 3-for-1 for Guttersnipe damage. But yeah, I suppose it is on the expensive side, that's why I cut down most of the other choices (you should have seen my initial list, heh). Might cut out Increasing Ambition too, I don't think I have too much worth copying.
I do like that you've got plenty of options in your deck, I think I'm too straightforward with my decks. But, I'd try to keep your Doomed Travelers at 4, to always get it t1. Maybe cut down Favorable Winds for Phantom General, you probably don't need that many anthem effects, and Favorable Winds doesn't help your Vampires.
I like this, it just doesn't need to cost that much mana. Like at all. And why only instants?
I don't really care that it's probably not playable, but I just love this card:

Azor's Elocutors actually seems really strong to me. It's reasonably costed relative to most other alternate wincons, and stalling forever is incredibly easy compared to, say, Barren Glory or Near-Death Experience. Play that shit with Venser and Stonehorn Dignitary and make people cry.

Don't think I got my requested days off for the prerelease this weekend :B But I should be able to make Sunday's after work so at least I'll be able to hit one of them.
Anyway, I redid that RW Goblin deck I posted a while back, and basically just edited it to abuse tokens and Goldnight Commander, cause I just really like that combo.
Haven't done much sideboard building yet, but it'll probably have Rootborn Defenses, since it protects me from wipes and grants me an extra token, and probably more anti-sweepers.
Hmm, I totally forgot about Cathars' Crusade, and I do love that card. Just wish it wasn't a 5-drop...
edit: arg too many ideas and now I want to add blue again and take it back to goblins only what dooooo

If I told you this was a spoiler for the next block after RtR, would you believe me?
SPOILER: it's not

Fanfics (There's a bunch):
I went 2-2 as Golgari and probably was therefore the worst ranked Golgari at the tournament. I got good stuff, just not good Golgari stuff. Like. I pulled a Jace. And a Dreadbore. My Golgari rares, other than the Corpsejack, were two Jarad's Orders.
Most of them seem like pretty good design! it looks like too many themes for one set though (multicolor, hybrid mana, colored artifacts, magic vs technology, an actual technological setting in magic), but the individual card design is mostly on par with what I would expect from MTG
Missed Saturday's prereleases, but I hit today's, went surprisingly well. Picked Izzet, pulled good ol' Niv in the guild booster; went WUB since I pulled a few WU cards I liked, like Sphinx's Revelation. Went 3-1 and somehow got first in doing it, probably cause only 10 people showed up, they said most of the crowds were on Saturday. So got a cool 8 extra packs, opened another Niv and an Abrupt Decay.
