Cool that Auriel's Bow is back in another game. I know it was in Morrowind very subtly as a Telvanni quest object (I still remember the dude in Ghostgate you have to ruthlessly murder to find it) but I was also under the impression that it was lore in earlier games. Cool that it's here. What are the other Uniques in Dawnguard?
The fact that Auriel's Bow is the main thing makes me very happy as an archer.
Combined with the Black Star and a soul trap bow, it makes for very fun times.
I do wish that you could set Soul Trap to be a little less stupid, though. Only trap souls if you have a gem of that size instead of wasting the larger ones on smaller souls. (Even if having the Black Star makes pretty much everything moot, infinite black grand soul gem etc)
Acquisitive Soul Gems v2 does that for you, though I use v1 since it doesn’t seem like improperly matched soul gems that you can reset by dropping is a bug. Also, it tidies up your inventory so you don’t have like a dozen individual entries for the same kind of soul gem.
edit: ahhhh dark brotherhood! run!

I just bought Dawnguard!
In related news, some reocomended momods
Unofficial Skyrim Patch - If you haven't seen it already. The Unofficial Dawnguard Patch is in beta.
Aethernautics - Space travel. Requires Dawnguard.
Tundra Defense - A popular New Vegas build-your-own-outpost mod, now in Skyrim.
Guard Dialogue Overhaul - Apparantly there are a lot of unused guard lines that make them say much more intelligent things.
Better Vampires - Very customizable. Includes Dawnguard and non-Dawnguard versions.
Realistic lighting with customization - Just started using this. Looks great, and no performance loss (since it only edits image spaces and weather systems).
That lighting one looks great.
Ok guys I'm starting my first new game and I haven't played in months. Give me a build and a character because I want to stupid role play the hell out of this. I am dead serious. The more ridiculous the better. For reference, my topical games are taking the most incompatible skillsets/builds and making them work. Ie. Shields, destruction, sneak, or one handed, alchemy, alteration, or two handed and NOTHING ELSE.
Alas, it seems nobody has made that dual shield mod just yet. I am beginning to lose hope that we will ever see it happen.

Spam every forum you know until it is made.
Play an inquisitor sworn to destroy every member of a race of your choice.
I did that once. Great fun.
I really should see about getting a new signature.
I should try and wipe out the Nordic race. Seems easy enough.
I should be the SPCA and kill all kajiits.
I should be the KKK and only kill redguards
Hah. I was actually given a sweet suggestion from a friend:
BE THIS DUDE.
One handed and Sneak, absolutely no exceptions. Sneak up to things. If I fail at killing them, I have to sprint everywhere and slash madly. I have to climb things. I'm buying the first black horse I can and my defeat conditions are that I can never lose Agro. AGROOO.
QUICK FIND A MOD THAT LETS YOU CLIMB EVERYTHING

Well Wander is a bit more than that. Hes actually not that good with a sword, but hes damn good with a bow, some like to think he was a hunter before the whole colossus thing. Hes also very good at climbing and dealing with rough terrain which also adds to the hunter thing, gotta be able to catch them games. I dont think hes particularly sneaky, clever but not sneaky, at least enough to fool animals and colossi, though the colossi have trouble noticing tiny things being so huge.
So, to make it short, he sucks with a sword, is amazing with bows, a bit acrobatic, and clever enough to kill giants. Oh and rides a horse but thats obvious
I would suggest not working on any kind of sneak for that though, because sneak + bows I will fully admit is easy mode. Hilariously so at times and enough points in both. Actually between archery, melee and magic, archery is probably the most universally OP.
I just went back, actually, to play the first 5 Colossi again just to remind myself, and I'm fairly convinced about the sword thing -
It's actually a lot of fun because about 80% of my levelups go purely into stamina so in fighting, I just do power attack after power attack, and then once I'm out of stamina, run off to higher ground, and then run back again. Pretty similar to the game, to be honest. The only issue I can already see is that it's going to get boring due to the fact that I'm only training 3 skills, and so they will far outstrip any competition I come up against. I did a whole bunch of forsworn camps with fairly little resistance, including a hagraven and briarheart, around level 7-9. Doubt this playthrough will have much meat past level 20 or something. GOTTA FIND DRAGONS TO JUMP ON.
Also, true to the game, I've been eating all the fruit and meat I can find. GOTTA IMPROVE GRIP.
Quick find a mod that increases the size of dragons, giants and mammoth by 500%

That sounds like something you could probably do just with console commands.
????????
Alternatively, just turn yourself smaller.
Suddenly everyone is a coloss.
Even the skeevers. Especially the skeevers.

Technically advanced immersion enhancers from clever minded modders:
Footprints and Head Tracking. I always thought it was either impossible or too much trouble than it's worth to add these into the game.
Any of the xbox players out there have an opinion on Hearthfire? I feel like I should not care for when it comes out on pc, but then I find myself posting messages like this.
Just save yourself some dough and get the GOTY ed——

Major Hearthfire glitch found! Children randomly disrobe themselves. Bethesda better push out an emergency fix before the ESRB catches wind of this.
