Crono is the for real deal. A veritable goddamn editing juggernaut. He put the recap video together in like a day, then knocked out Part 8 the next day. If it weren't for him our videos would still be as chunky as they were in Act 1. The guy's on a well earned vacation right now, but I'll make sure to relay lavish praise upon him when he returns.

    Hopy shit. Please do!
As a film school student, I think I can safely say that it takes some mad editing chops and dedication to pull that off in something like a day. :0

I don't really think it's very fair to assume that the videos would "still be as choppy as they were in Act 1", Crono has had a lot of time to get better, whereas Acts 1 and 2 were pushed out fairly rapidly, giving no time for practice / well thought out decisions.

Although Crono had more prior experience and sense from the get go, I don't think it's very fair on our original editor to compare them like that. Please be careful of what you say, Nicky.

Either way, yes, Crono is on vactaion and he deserves all the praise.

While I am well aware that you are a very long way away from needing characters from Act 6, I would like to state for the record that as soon as auditions for undyingUmbrage open, I am going to be all over that. I'm not saying this as a request, but as a warning. The moment you even begin to contemplate casting uu, I will be there, with an audio clip containing every line he has ever spoken. Because his is my favorite voice to do ever, and I want that role. I know nothing can be done about it now, so I'll just leave it at that... for now.

You just said out loud what I have been thinking for a while and I doubt I'm the only one.

Fair enough. I mean I'm willing to submit to a democratic process for the audition process, as is necessary in this situation. But, damn do I ever want to voice him...

Haha, thanks for the interest guys. We appreciate that you're eager but it's best for everyone that we hold off.

We're expecting auditions to come in like a tidal wave and most of us are already expecting to be mowed down like a Best Buy employee on Black Friday.

Just hold on to your chair and keep on practicing! Just think of the time until auditions as like a -really good chance- to sharpen up your A game, because that's what the CoLab is looking for.

Oh, I know all that, and I definitely will hang back patiently until you open auditions. Sorry to say that I will probably be the tip of that tidal wave, because I plan on monitoring this thread very closely for the audition date. I don't want to end up missing it completely or anything like that.

But no worries, I will bring my very best to the eventual audition, and practicing will be a good way to occupy myself in the meantime! ^_^

Tough, if uu happens to be Lord English, as many speculate, maybe the one voicing Lord English should also voice uu in a different tone?

Given that one is an adult and the other is a kid, I'm not sure whether two different voice actors is a bad thing.

Although I have confidence that actorsAllusion (our Lord English VA) has the range to pull off undyingumbrage, the plan is to open uu auditions to the public. Either way, it's going to be a long ass time before we have to make that decision.

New SBaHJ video. No fooling, this one is really damn funny. It kills me, in more ways than one.

Also, we broke 4000 subscribers some time last night, and are coming up on half a million total video views. And when that happens, my sister says she's going to bake me a pie, so I sure am excited.

    Also...

    Announcement: CoLab Livestream #2

We had a wicked good time with our first livestream (which you can watch here), and are going to do a second one on Saturday, July 14. Badger is going to make an announcement video later with more details. And if you can't make it that day, it will be recorded and uploaded to YouTube, so don't worry.

I have a question regarding your use of "conditional and". Why is it you choose to use that phrase? Because of AH's "stylistic" choice to use "&&" rather than "&"? Because regardless of the symbol used, the operation that actually happens is a "bitwise and".

Also I totally didn't pay attention to the CotL bit much like I did while reading the actual comic.

Re: Let's Read: Homestuck! - Thread #2 (Please read FAQ before posting!)

It is unfortunate to really mention this, but while many of us are actors / video editors... None of us are programmers. It's a fault of ours, but this information is not easily accessible. I admit to the fault, but for consistencies sake, it's too late to change it now.

I found a related article that had similar functions using && and went with what I had. With a deadline to meet, no programmer contacts and no way of knowing that "bitwise" was even a related phrase in this instance, I basically rolled with what I had.

It's pretty much entirely my fault for this error as I didn't delay the episode to research the function further.

Re: Let's Read: Homestuck! - Thread #2 (Please read FAQ before posting!)

To be fair, it's also AH's fault for using && rather than &. && really DOES mean "conditional AND", so it's actually the symbol that's wrong. (Same with ||, the conditional OR, which should've been |, a bitwise OR)

I could explain more about the difference between the operators but I doubt that's relevant here.

Cool episode again, but putting my critic hat again, there is the convo between Dave and Davesprite when they talk about the MEOW code book being safe that is a bit out of sync. Unless it only happened to me.
