Play by Play listen of EVERY TRACK: (Warning: EVERY. TRACK.)
Crystalmethequins: At first I was tempted to skip it after the beginning bit, which was pretty slow and repetitive. Then, suddenly AWESOME OUT OF NOWHERE JESUS CHRIST THIS ALBUM WILL BE THE BEST ALBUM i should totally start writing a play by play of this. And that's how this happened. Anyway, this is SO AWESOME. Just so awesome. By the way, loving the detail on the album art, with everyone having a pet and the potions on the ground and THIS SONG OH MY GOD. Next song, please!
Anbroids V2.0: Very jazzy, very retro. Loving it.
Trepidation: More retro stuff, and judging by the art, another Squarewave song. (Hold up, I just peeked down the list and saw a Gamegrl song? Oh dear lord.) Anyway, very fresh sounding, and I love this one as well. Even as a stand alone song without any Homestuck ties, it would do well.
Firefly: Drat! Hoping for a Serenity theme, oh well. John's planet could always use more background music, I suppose? Has an atmospheric feel, but at the same time comes off as rather flat- oh next song already okay that was short
Whistling Jackhammer: Picture of Dirk for the art? So... it's a Dirk song...? Odd title. Anyway, very nice, upbeat, atmospheric. This one definitely has the depth Firefly could use. Dirk, why are you so greedy, stealing all the depth and all. Good song, probably not going to be one of my top picks, however.
Ugly Betty: Oh god, what's this going to be. Condense theme is obvious, nice album art- base. There is base. Whaaaaaaat. Not what I was expect- and retro too. Okay, I guess I'm kind of feeling the Condense now, what with the variety and all because of her powers. And now it's quiet, building up. Bracing self. Oh. Oh my. Oh drat. Was expecting something big. Oh well, the build up was probably more for the purpose of an underwater feel to go with all this pixel pop. Not really seeing much of her character in it, though.
Hate You: JESUS CRHIST IS THAT MEENAH WHAT IS WITH THAT SMILE oh god the music sounds just as creepy and now it's awesome creepy WERE THOSE WUBS Yes those were indeed wubs. And synth. And drums. This is freaking amazing, but I can't help but feel it's more A2 Meenah than A1- oh god okay now I see it with that fun cheery spot awwwwww its over that was awesome. Wait, tabbed back, still a minute left. Aaaaand now I'm getting chills and laughter OH GOD IT'S BOTH OF THEM IT REPRESENTED THEM BOTH ALL ALONG
Pumpkin Party in the Sea Hitler-:Screw it, song's starting, no time to write that title. Spooky, okay. Rock accordian out of nowhere what. Okay. And banjo too why not. This is also quite- CHORUS. The title makes sense now- this is off the wall ridiculous! Now I'm definately going to have to go back and listen to some of these again to pick my favorites, because- SCREW TYPING THIS SONG IS AWESOME. WILD WEST. RETRO. CHORUS. POLKA. ROCK. THIS SONG IS SO FUN. And if they put this early in the album... oh... oh god...
Skaianet: And now back to something more sane. This is very adventure-y, fits Skaianet perfectly. Oh and now there's orchestra. That was cool.
Another Jungle: I wonder what recognizable tune this will have. So far pretty cool. Has the jolty rapid-fire thingamabobs like the last song, only this time they're kind of annoying. And now they're quieter, with some... sort of serene childlike rock music probaby representing Roxy- ah, album art, yep, Roxy and Dirk in the future. This kind of makes more sense. And the wubbly beach music guitar for the flooded earth, clever. And now regular electric guitar for Dirk/robots. And then MAGIC SPARKLE SOUND EFFECT. Back to Roxy? section. And now it's all magicey and THERE'S SUBURBAN JUNGLE. Was worried there for a sec. Next.
Gamegirl (1993 Mi: What. Lyrics started. Oh dear lord. What even is this. Part of me wants to push her off a cliff and part of me wants to laugh. THE FUCK NOW THEY'RE DANCING. Dare I look at the album art while she rambles? AUGH RAP GUY WHAT. AUGH ALBUM ART GUY WAIT NO IT'S PROBABLY A GIRL. WHY DID I LOOK AT THAT. What even is this. This a perfect example of ironic perfection. I'd say Dirk style irony. That was... an experience.
ASSAULT: Caps lock means business. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is fight music, and it pretty good fight music. I'm just trying to imagine who on earth you'd fight to this. Okay, Roxy's involved, that's where it's coming from. This is pretty cool, fits Roxy rather well. Well, that was fun. Next one looks like a doozy.
A Little Fight Mewsic: GCat fight music, right, Mr. Album Co-AUGH OH GOD WHAT IS THAT HIT IT WITH A BROOM. Well this is pretty cool, pretty fitting. Better than the last GCat song, at least.
HOLD UP. THERE ARE FIFTY SONGS? WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO.
Austin, Atlantis: Ooooh, more atmosphere. Definitely accomplishing that, chills are being had. Oh. Oh my. I lied before, NOW chills are being had. Album art definitely matches. Well, this is very deep and gives some major feels. All there is to say on the matter. What the hell is that sound.
Despot: Condense is fun, could always use some more. Jazz and then STRINGS YES STRINGS. Half of me wants to say fight music, half of me wants to say an average day in her life. Cover art is Dirk running from Condense, so I guess it could be that too. All in all, this is pretty awesome I must say. I just had the image of the Condense making some toast to this music while the events on the album art are happening. This is the Condense Has Breakfast Song. Even the cheery jazz with the strings has a frosted flakes feel. Sweeeeeeeet.
Stress: Dirk song. Everyone loves Dirk. Very upbeat, I must say. While it is pretty fun, I can't bring myself to say it represents Dirk for some reason.
Minihoof's Adventure: OH MY GOD OH MY GOD NEIGH WHAT NOW THERE'S INSTRUMENTS THIS IS SO MUCH YAY WHAT SUPER HAPPY FUN TIMES ARE TO BE HAD ITS SO ADORABLE AND SO FUN LETS GO MAPLEHOOF WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EE break time. Having some tea in the field. Then the bad guy walks up and we offer him some THEN WE RUN AWAY THROUGH THE HILLS WWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS IS SO MUCH FUN NOW THE BAD GUY IS RIDING WITH US AND WE'RE FRIENDS NOW WERE JUMPING OFF A WATERFALL AND NOW MAPLEHOOF IS USING HM SURF ACROSS THE WATER AND NOW IM IMAGINING LORD ENGLISH GOING FOR A JOG WITH A BIG GRIN ON HIS FACE AND WERE FRINDS TOO? and then we drown wait what
Encore: Awwwww serious time. I'm hearing the yaaaa-bada-bee-da-ba-dah song whatever why? And now orchestra. Pretty grand and fun sounding, great title. And now dramaticness. And now retro sounds. Now adventure! Enemy appears! FIGHT MUSIC. Okay, getting a bit out of hand here. This is no longer music reviewing, it's my crazy delusions. Taking a break after this one for lunch. Still, this is one of my favorites (oh who am i kidding they all are)
Expedition: Wait, accidentally started one more. Oh well, more adventure! Quite victorious sounding... which means this will never be used in Homestuck. There is no possible event that could warrant this much elation and adventure. Hussie is mean like that. But still, this is an amazing orchestra piece. Victorious is probably the best word for it.
Elephant Gun: Wow, jumping right back in with super action speed fight. Very fun to listen to; but not as much of an experience as the others. Might just be because I just took a break, I dunno.
Miasmajesty: More Condense? But picture of Dirk. Confused. Another good song, heck they're all good songs, except Firefly, but not feeling anything special from it. Drums are a nice touch though- awwwww no more drums. But yeah, fine but uninspiring. I'm going to be jaded towards everything after Minihoof.
Jane Dargason: The heck is a Dargason. Picture is of Jane in her land, so I'll have to go off of that. Fits her land well enough, I suppose. Ending bit it pretty cool though. Still, like Miasmajesty, rather underwhelming compared to other tracks. In a collection of 10, however, that's to be expected.
Before the Beginning and After the End: AAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHHH THOSE FACES WAS NOT SEEING THEM COMING Roxy and Dirk look okay but THOSE EXPRESSIONS. Sorry art team, I should be talking about the music. The underwhelming music. Although, since it's before and after their adventure, it's supposed to be pretty ca- claps. Those are claps. Okay this jumped up a few spots on the list just for this section; you can never have too much claps. So, I feel this one gets what it was going for, and it got it good, but not my personal taste.
Bridge of Stars: Okay, one about John and Jade's trip through Andrew's atti- I mean the yellow yardy spacey place of mystery. Although for a second there I mistook Jade for Nepeta. But yeah, very atmospheric, very calm, very otherworldly (Andrew's attic). Probably the best atmospheric one so far. Also, chorus is cool.
Cumulating Dreams: Drat! Thought it'd be dream bubbles, but no, just Prospit. Prospit's pretty cool though. Definately fits pre-game Prospit better than the tracks on the actual Prospit album with it's cheerful retro and background orchestra. Except B2 pre-game Prospit. Everything's all sorts of fucked in B2. Wait, that's Roxy's scarf in the cloud. That means that's Jane, not Jade. No longer fits. So it is B2 Prospit. Now don't I feel silly.
Busting Makes Me Feel Good: Finally, fun times! And random vocals! Let's take a look at the albuJESUS CHRIST IT'S FOR THE GHOSTBUSTER'S MMO THE FUCK YES. And robot voice too yes! This song was awesome, but now I think it's going to be another serious one, isn't it. DON'T LEAVE ME BILL MURRAY NPC, DON'T LEEEEEAAAAAAAAAA-
Everything is Something to Somebody: To be honest, I'm okay with atmospheric stuff, but I can only handle so much before it loses it's charm. I'm sorry Mr. Song, I'm sure this is great, but I cannot muster up the feels for you- oh god the album art. Changed everything. This song right here folks, this song right here. I apologize to it. You are great.
iRRRRRRRRECONCILABLE: SOMEONE MADE A TAVROSSPRITE THEME? DAFAQ OKAY. Why does this fit it perfectly? GUITAR YES AND IT BUILDS UP TO EXPLOSION FUUUCCKCKKKK YESSSHE wait honk what well this was perfect
I'm a Member of the Midnight Crew (Post-Punk Version): From the title alone, I had high hopes. I got synthetic drunken Beatles. AND YET I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. THIS WILL BE IN MY TOP THREE, NO EXCEPTIONS. I WISH TO MARRY THIS MAN. NOT TOP THREE. BEST. OF. THE. FUCKING. ALBUM.
Three in the Morning (Aftermath): More Midnight Crew? HELL TO THE FUCK YEAH! Dramatic atmospheric music or not, this is still amazing by default. Even if it wasn't, it would still be amazing because of how emotional it is. Plus, it calmed me down enough from that last spectacle, by the way, FITS THE MIDNIGHT CREW PERFECTLY BUT I DONT KNOW WHY- moving on, we're moving on... yep, next!
Lancer: DD song? *checks art* DD song. Nice and chill, yet threatening, perfect for our Destructive Debonair. This would be perfect fight music against him in my head, for some reason. Like a video game boss fight, turning invisible to get close to you then turning visible and attacking you from the front like a gentleman, all while the Red Miles wreck the arena's shit and you have to dodge them, wondering when the true threat's going to pop up next. But yeah, another top tier song.
Three's a Crowd: More DD? YES. Assuming the title comes from only three of the Midnight Crew are still around in B2. My god that is some awesome DD art. Change my mind, this is the DD fight music. The base along with the piano... breathtaking. Literally. Since he kills people. Oh god there's light chorus too. This is another top tier, definately. DD is top tier. Anything DD is automatically god, kapeesh?
Break Shot: Pool themed title? Not very specific, let's see that album art. OKAY SCREANING AND LAUGHTER IT'S LE IT'S LE I UNDERSTAND PERFECTLY. This is scary as hell, let me tell you. Perfect LE. Hold up. Is it doing what I think it's doing? Is it doing the tune in reverse like English from the Felt album did? I swear to god if that's what it's doing I will be in fucking awe. IT'S DOING CALS LAUGH JEUSBUGHIUGWEGHHJUV
Portrait: Safety in the void with Roxy, thank you. This is pretty cool; a good combination of atmosphere and action. Liking it. And the transition to become progressively more intense was so smooth I hardly noticed it; that's pretty snazzy right there.
Negative Aperture: PICTURE OF SAWTOOTH? Appropriate that Sawtooth shows up in the album fashionably late. Not much to say about this one other than yay Sawtooth. Doesn't quite match the hype of the rap god, but still pretty great.
Sweet Dreams, Timaeus: Bleagh atmosphere. Atmosphere is bottom tier, in my book. Still, it has depth, it has intrigue, it has all the stuff a good atmospheric needs. (Note from the future: Just saw the album art. Is he... sleeping with himself? What? That needed comment.)
Red Miles: RED MILES YOU SAY? Not as dangerous sounding as expected, but definitely threatening, and definitely fitting.
The Changing Game: Depth emotional must have been a bitch to write blabbity blah I suck at proper musical critique. Definitely has meaning behind it though. Amazing song for what it is.
Requited: Gonna go out on a limb here and say it's either Jane x Jake or Jake x Dirk. Album cover says: Disciple x Sufferer wait what the fuck how'd you guys get in here. Well, this is certainly awesome for them, and it's a fantastic song. On a side note: Hussie says this is a comic we shouldn't take seriously because the main villain is a dog wearing sunglasses, BUT WITH SUBTEXT LIKE THIS. With subtext like this.
Princess of Helium: A Jane song? Are we finally getting a proper Jane song? No. No we are not. This is a fantastic *cough*atmospheric*cough* song, but a song representing Jane is downright impossible. In my personal opinion, she has absolutely no character development other than exploding. She has gotten absolutely 0 chance to shine in the spotlight. Hell, we've barely talked to Dirk and he's already as complex as half the trolls combined. Maybe it's a family trait for John, Jade, Jane and Jake to be cheerful pieces of cardboard for everyone else to drain character development from. Except Jade, who at least got some splotlight when dealing with trolls.
Moonsetter: Shit, I was so busy writing the last one I didn't realize this one started. Cheerful happy fun blah how many celestial bodies can go in how many directions jeez
Candles and Clockwork (Alpha Version): Interesting. Very interesting. And, a Dave song that isn't on his instrument, but rather, on what seems like John and Rose's instruments; not Jane's. Veeeeeeeery interesting.
Coursing: B Universe First Guardians? Fits them... surprisingly well. I don't know why. But yes, very nice song. And don't think I didn't notice the Jade: Enter tune in there. Oh, and now it's more dramatic. And now it's quiet. And now it's fast. That was a ride.
Cario Overcoat: Oh my, more English. *sees album art* OH GOD MORE ENGLISH. Very... serene, I suppose. Still nervewracking- oh dear now it's less serene it's intense now. And I think it's doing the reversal thing again. I'm imagining this going along with LE hunting down Hussie in the authorverse hospital.
Battle Against an Unfathomable Enemy: WHICH UNFATHOMABLE ENEMY! THERE ARE SO MANY! Oh god it's a horrorterror/Glorb. That's pretty damn unfathomable. Song fits well, could stand to be a bit more erratic. Oh, wait, there we go, that's a step in the right direction. Pretty cool fight music for unfathomable enemies, but a tad unbecoming of a horrorterror.
Noirscape: WHAT GUITARS. IT'S BLACK WITH 200% MORE ROCK N ROLL. (Not a fan of the carapacian interpretation in the album art, but to each their own) Okay, so. All Midnight Crew songs are awesome. There are three tiers: Midnight Tier, Normal Tier, and Atmostier. Midnight is the top tier. OOOH MORE ROCK IT'S THE SLAPPING BIT YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS. This is awesome.
Dogfight: Album art is eh not a bit fan of realistic Homestuck especially Bec Noir and PM but anyway THIS IS AWESOME. MORE MIDNIGHT TIER. Also, shocked the title pun is only being made a title pun now. I'm detecting bits of Cascase in here, although I'm not as read up on Homestuck musical cues as I should be. My one complaint with this is that the guitar could have been less sharp and the base could have had more oomph.
A Taste For Adventure: Eight minute Jake song? The question is, can it keep my attention the whole eight minutes? Nope, bathroom break. And back. And I would not be disappointed if this song were used in a Homestuck flash. I would be crushed if it wasn't. There's just so much potential to put a story behind this. There are no words. But yeah. Top. Fucking. Tier.
Stargaze: Eight minute... atmospheric song? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAohwait it bugged out, only one minute. I was about to kill a baby there! Thank goodness. Shoo little baby, shoo.
Abridged Incredibly Biased Critique List: (Unless you want to DIE OF TEXT BLOCK, read this instead.)
Crystalmethequins: Awesome start to an awesome album!
Anbroids V2.0: A nice build on the Squarewave song.
Trepidation: A new Squarewave song entirely! Great song regardless of what it’s based on.
Firefly: Short, flat, and old news.
Whistling Jackhammer: Atmosphere is bottom tier.
Ugly Betty: Good retro/pop combo, although it doesn’t fit the Condensce.
Hate You: Creepy and fun at the same time, with wubs aplenty. Great for Meenah AND the Condence.
Pumpkin Party in the Sea Hitler’s Water Apocalypse: Andrew Hussie said Homestuck shouldn’t be taken seriously because the villain is a dog in sunglasses. This song represents how silly all these concepts would look to an outsider looking in on Homestuck, as the title wonderfully shows.
Skaianet: Skaianet atmospheric piece. Great, but atmosphere is bottom tier.
Another Jungle: Represents future B2 very well. Exudes light hearted but deadly action adventure.
Gamegirl (Original 1993 Mix): Silly yet infuriating. But with the Strider ironic eye, that infuriation makes it all the better.
ASSAULT: Roxy STRIFE music.
A Little Fight Mewsic: Best GCat song to date.
Austin, Atlantis: Deep in more ways than one, but atmosphere is bottom tier.
Despot: This is what plays when the Condense has frosted flakes in the morning, while Dirk runs from her minions elsewhere.
Stress: Very upbeat, but doesn’t fit Dirk in my opinion.
Minihoof's Adventure: Hell to the fuck yes.
Encore: Amazing adventure music in that it tells a story as it goes, from the quest to the boss fight.
Expedition: Victorious sounding; a great follow up to Encore after the boss was defeated. My problem with this and Encore is that they do not fit Homestuck at all, really. Plus, their titles could use swapping.
Elephant Gun: Fast paced adventure/fight music, but faces the problem of being compared to the rest of the giant album.
Miasmajesty: Another Dirk song. While Dirk doesn’t face his brother’s problem of having all his music based off of the music HE makes, Dirk’s songs all seem to follow a similar path. This song just doesn’t match up to even the other Dirk songs, I’m afraid.
Jane Dargason: A song for Jane’s land, but rather underwhelming like Miasmajesty.
Before the Beginning and After the End: More underwhelming music, but at least this one has the excuse of being that way intentionally to represent [see the title].
Bridge of Stars: Best atmosphere song, at least! But again, atmosphere is bottom tier.
Cumulating Dreams: A cheerful Prospit song. Represents the childish fun of the place rather than the grandeur.
Busting Makes Me Feel Good: HELL TO THE FUCK YES.
Everything is Something to Somebody: Seems underwhelming, but the album art really completes the picture. It’s about Roxy taking everyone’s worthless pumpkins and giving them to the carapacians, who need them. Definitely does the act more justice than the single panel it got in the comic.
iRRRRRRRRECONCILABLE: TAVRISSPRITE THEME IS AWESOME. Syncs up perfectly with its entire existence of two minutes. If someone were to dub its lines to this song up until it explodes, I would be eternally greatful.
I'm a Member of the Midnight Crew (Post-Punk Version): It’s awful. But it WORKS. It just wouldn’t have been the same without the awful singing, you have to understand! Midnight Crew is top tier.
Three in the Morning (Aftermath): The title says it all. Very fitting of the aftermath of the intermission. It approaches the Midnight Crew from the more serious and dark side, rather than their idiotic silly side the last song beautifully demonstrated.
Lancer & Three's a Crowd: I’m doing these together because they’re a pair, really. They’re both DD songs, and they both work well as a boss fight song. Lancer shows his calm, collected, yet very threatening side. Three’s a Crowd shows… the same side, only through different means. They’re very different songs, but they have the same message. Not a bad thing, but it makes comparing them a lot more difficult. It’s a matter of personal taste, really.
Break Shot: Lord English is fucking scary when done right. Fight music, right here. Plus, it does the same thing his song on the Felt album did with the tune flip in the middle, but it does it even better.
Portrait: This, ladies and gentlemen, is smooth song progression. I barely noticed it getting more and more intense.
Negative Aperture: Great song, but unworthy of Sawtooth’s visage in my opinion.
Sweet Dreams, Timaeus: Good atmospheric, but atmosphere is- you get the joke by now.
Red Miles: Represents them wonderfully… in still image form. I’d like to see an animated take on them to see if they’re more tentacles or tree branches, if that makes sense. See if they’re slithery or not. This song would be perfect for them if they’re more like tree branches.
The Changing Game: Atmostier.
Requited: An ancestor song out of fucking nowhere, but a good one nonetheless.
Princess of Helium: Jane is impossible to do a proper song for until she gets real character development. Regardless, atmostier.
Moonsetter: Another one of these. Meh.
Candles and Clockwork (Alpha Version): Not a great listen, but has a lot of thought into it. Plus, Dave song that doesn’t sound like Dave himself made it.
Coursing: A ride of twists and turns, much like the mysterious lives of the B universe guardians.
Cario Overcoat: A more subtle and sinister take on English. Again, more awesome flip action in the middle, I think.
Battle Against an Unfathomable Enemy: Good fight music, not good enough for a horrorterror.
Noirscape & Dogfight: Again, a two fer one critique. Both are rock songs, but the guitars are too twangy and the base is too subtle to make the intensity really show. Would have been perfect, otherwise.
A Taste For Adventure: A great end to a great album. Again, great adventure because it tells a story. Please use this for a flash someday, Andrew.
Stargaze: A little something something to calm you down after the 8 minute finale. Not really a proper song, in my opinion.
My Top 10: (Unless you want to be MORTALLY WOUNDED OF TEXT BLOCK, read this you idiot.)
0. I'm a Member of the Midnight Crew (Post-Punk Version): Fuck you that’s why.
1. Minihoof's Adventure: SO. FUN.
2. Lancer - Three's a Crowd: These songs go hand in hand, yet never touch. I could never choose!
3. Busting Makes Me Feel Good: SO. CATCHY. AAUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHH.
4. Encore: This song doesn’t play during an adventure, it IS the adventure.
5. Hate You: Meenah is awesome in both flavors, and this is the double swirl.
6. Break Shot - Cario Overcoat: Both different approaches to the same character, like Lancer and Three’s a Crowd. Tough pick.
7. Crystalmethequins: Whoever put this as the first song on the album should get a medal.
8. iRRRRRRRRECONCILABLE: Amazing, but lacks sustenance. Still, that’s mainly the point of Tavrissprite. Side Note: HOLY SHIT I PUT THIS 8TH AND DIDN'T REALIZE IT
9. A Taste For Adventure: Whoever finished the album with this song doesn’t get a medal, because there shouldn’t have been any question about it. But while it’s a great finisher, as a standalone, it doesn’t speak to me.
10. Pumpkin Party in the Sea Hitler’s Water Apocalypse: Fun, but not great.
But yeah. Top. Fucking. Tier.
A Taste For Adventure: A great end to a great album. Again, great adventure because it tells a story. Please use this for a flash someday, Andrew.
I believe that has already happened. Just not this long version.
[S] Jane: Enter, right?

Because I mean, you could probably engineer a mutiny on her ships and get mindfangs crew to turn her over for some reason. In fact Im sure she spent long nights in the dark of her room planning just such a scenario.
But then, while she was taking her dragon for a stroll/small town eating she realized "I H4V3 4 FUCK1NG DR4GON".
Im sure we all would have come to the same conclusion.
my god
You're a fucking genius.
People with dragons don't need plans. They have dragons.
How she passed her legislacerator exams.
She gave deep, in-depth answers.
Then scribbled "1 H4V3 4 DR4GON" over all of it.

I need to know for reasons.
Oh uhhhh
Tavros is pretty cool, in a loser-ish sort of way.
And John.
And DD is my favorite carapace/exile.
Snowman is a pretty cool character as well, I guess.
For some reason I find myself listening to Umbral Ultimatum more than most of the other songs, with Let's All Rock the Heist being a close second.
Does this help?
Yes absolutely.
Thank you.
This will become relevant in the future. Far enough into the future where you will probably forgot I even asked this.

So, I'll make a bit of an analogy.
Let's say the kids are files in a folder, the folder being the universe.
When you Scratch the universe, It can be seen as, like, reverting the folder to a previous version. So anything that was on there before and any changes are lost.
There are 2 days to avoid this.
1) Kill yourself (ie: Throw in the recycle bin). By doing this, you still exist in the afterlife, and when the folder is re-written, the files still exist in the recycle bin.
2) Escape. Transfer the files to another folder (ie: universe) simply, and when the folder is re-written, the transferred files will be safe.
So I had a little game to see how many songs I could guess the producer of, ignoring ones that had already been spoiled for me in some way. I got 20:
Trepidation: Svix
Ugly Betty: Robert J Lake
Hate You: Toby Fox
Pumpkin Party in Sea Hitler's Water Apocalypse: Malcolm Brown
Skaianet: Mark Hadley
GameGrl (Original 1993 Mix): Bowman
Despot
Stress
Minihoof's Adventure
Encore
Elephant Gun
Miasmajesty (free)
Before the Beginning and After the End
Bridge of Stars
Cumulating Dreams
Busting Makes Me Feel Good
Everything is Something to Somebody
Lancer
Three's a Crowd
Coursing
I admit, quite a few were educated guesses based on the name. And some are admittedly really obvious (e.g. Bowman)

I enjoyed these, and I'm just going to gently suggest that anyone else who did check out Nick and Jeremy's underappreciated Starhaven soundtrack.

Album Statistics Dump, Bowman Makes Me Feel Good Edition:
After two years, the behemoth that is Volume 5 has finally been outdone in terms of sheer running time (and at a much higher overall quality if I may say so). Not only is Volume 9 the new longest Homestuck Album, but also the cheapest relative to its length. What's more, the penultimate track, A Taste for Adventure, sets a new record for the longest "proper" song (i.e. not a compilation, i.e. not Cascade).
It might also have more vocal songs than any prior album? Not sure, haven't been tracking that.
1. Cascade - 13:14
2. A Taste for Adventure - 8:24
3. Wind - 8:03
4. Carapacian Dominion - 7:20
5. Rex Duodecim Angelus - 6:39
6. Rain - 6:34
7. Nine Lives One Love - 6:33
8. Ace of Trump - 6:29

your stat dumps are always so cool. Weren't there some others you sometimes made like average artist track time and percent of songs made by each artist or something though? I remember that at some point.

I have to say, I really enjoy this album. Especially the tracks Moonsetter, Noirscape, Coursing, Princess of Helium, and Jane Dargason. The free track Miasmajesty is wonderful to, I love the beat. And all of the art was pretty amazing too. I can't wait to buy the album for my ipod.

But... what if it actually created that discussion?

Ability to suck you in to its eternal pits.
He set about upon a quest, to gain all that it knew,
Spent million ho'rs upon its feed, looking at all 'twas new.
And once upon that ancient time, he gave the wisdom wise,
To all who called upon him then, or looked into his eyes.
"I'll never, ever, give you up. We'll be there to the end."
He told unto the great website upon the day called Wend.
I know that it's not spelled that way, well tough, you'll just sue me;
But that isn't important to this amazing story.
He spent all of his waking life, chasing that feeble dream,
But the website did not return his ever faithful gleam.
And now upon this olden time, he gave all wisdom wise,
To those who would call upon him, or looked him in the eyes.
His obsession was way to big, it never looked to wane.
Just wax and wax, and wax it did. 'Twas becoming a bane.
A lifetime spent on this dear task, and getting nothing much.
Some thought of him as crazy, while some others called him such.
"A silly task" they told him so, "You are a stupid guy.
The website will not love you back, why do you even try?"
But still in times of recent past, he gathered wisdom wise,
To share to all who listened here, or looked him in the eyes.
Again and then, again again, he listened to their calls.
"An idiot" he heard them say "I do not have the balls
To be a normal person in a life that works just fine;
The knowledge gained is not that great. Why, that is all they whine.
But I, yes I, will prove them wrong, my love and I will show
Yes, all of the common info that nobody does know.
And now, upon these current days-- I've gathered wisdom wise,
I'll share it to all who listen, or look me in the eyes."
Now this old tale has oft been heard, the lover of a site.
He aged and aged, for a long time, 'til all his hair was white.
And then one day, he disappeared. But this, I've heard, is true:
He still exist, and wants to give that knowledge unto you.
You've heard this song about his lust, and it is now you job,
To join him in his sacred goal, and not to join the mob.
For now, until some time unknown, we'll give the wisdom wise,
To share with all who will listen, or look us in the eyes.

But one of the "other Jake songs" uses English! In major! As an ADVENTURE! theme! That is so much better than just "ok ay"!

"O God, I could be bounded in a nutshell and count myself a king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams"
– Hamlet, Act II, Scene ii
"The yarns of seamen have a direct simplicity, the whole meaning of which lies within the shell of a cracked nut. But Marlow was not typical (if his propensity to spin yarns be excepted), and to him the meaning of an episode was not inside like a kernel but outside, enveloping the tale which brought it out only as a glow brings out a haze, in the likeness of one of these misty halos that sometimes are made visible by the spectral illumination of moonshine."
– Heart of Darkness
CRYSTALMETHEQUINS: Crystalmanthequins standard techno mix edit. Pretty good but I don't understand the RAVE REVIEWS, I guess it's pretty nice.
FIREFLIES: Fuck you Buzinkai we want you back, and making more shit like this, because this is just the best kind of atmosphere! I DON'T KNOW HOW COME YOU ARE SO GOOD AT CALM ATMOSPHERES, BUT YOU ARE. KIND OF LIKE PLAZMATAZ MORE BLOOP NOISES VERSION WHICH IS A GOOD THING. Buzinkai is also similar in style to Solatrus, but they're... different. Somehow.
ANOTHER JUNGLE: hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG also how come there's a bit of Showtime in there? Anyways this might just be the top song for me. Bowman is amazing at keeping a song interesting, playing with the tune, jumping, moving it around. just hnng.
AUSTIN, ATLANTIS: See this is what I'm saying about Plazmataz, who is also VERY GOOD AT ATMOSPHERES. Nice Flare tune there, nice imagery there, nice song there.
STRESS: Less awesome version of Bolin's Speed Mix. Sorry Radiation, sorry Buzinkai. Your version is still pretty awesome!
CUMULATING DREAMS: I don't know if the title is a dirty joke, a random word (reticulating splines), or a metaphor. Amazing tune, sweet buildup.
BUSTING MAKES ME FEEL GOO BUSTING BUSTING BUSTING BUSTING BUSTING MAKES ME FEEL GOOD
THREE IN THE MORNING (AFTERMATH): Well, this was nice. And sobering. And amazing. And... and emotions.
THREE'S A CROW THE BEST TRACK ART OUT OF THE ENTIRE ALBUM also a pretty nice song yes it is good
PORTRAIT: Yes this is a really good song SUDDENLY DRUMS YES, YES and then it keeps being really, really good
SWEET DREAMS, TIMAEUS: EidolonOrpheus does what he does best: this kind of song. Yes I know it's awfully vague, but -this kind of song- he ALWAYS nails perfectly. Amazing atmosphere.
MOONSETTER: Oh yes, this just reminds me of hella kinds of rpgs all at once. Ohhhh yes.
COURSING: I never liked Courser (sorry Albatross Soup), even though I loved its use in Umbral Ultimatum. This is like Courser: Amazing Version.
NOIRSCAPE: I feel like they bit off more than they could chew with this song and then they didn't know how to process the food through their mouth and esophagus correctly. But hey, nice song, still.
DOGFIGHT: I already knew Another Jungle was going to be the best thing but this is the underdog (no pun intended), just HNNNNLKGVJSGHFAKJHSDLGKJHSDFKHJHNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGASDFASDFSFGGGGGGGGGGGGG there I think that's more letters than what I gave Another Jungle. Not so far so as to say flawless, but the use of different Homestuck staples is handled excellently. And
A TASTE OF ADVENTURE: 'mazin
'MAZIN
So yes the true gems of this album were I think:
- Another Jungle
- Dogfight
- A Taste Of Adventure
Also music team, why am I getting the impression that there were time issues with the track art? Some of it was amazing, some of it was weird, some of it was the old copypasted Homestuck panels. Not that I have anything against Homestuck panels, but I'm getting this vibe...
"What? Funning? I never fun! I do not fun, and have no history of funning, and even if I were inclined to funning, I would not dream of funning with you."
your stat dumps are always so cool. Weren't there some others you sometimes made like average artist track time and percent of songs made by each artist or something though? I remember that at some point.
Yeah, I did an average track length comparison by artist sometime before Vol. 8, but I think I might've left the impression that I was making some sort of value judgment. In the end it just seemed really arbitrary and not interesting enough to be worth it.
Also, Pie was kind of a weird outlier, and there would be even more now thanks to C&M. I could fix that with a minimum no. of songs cutoff, but again, too arbitrary for my liking.

Blargh, I'm rusty at this.
Also, something I forgot to mention (but it's accounted for in the stats) is that Medium went up to $7 a few months ago and I never did find out why. Not saying it doesn't deserve it, but that strikes me as an odd decision to make a year later.
