I'm glad you made the right decision.
This way... Its going to take a little while to get there so
if you have anything to ask me to pass the time, shoot.

    >So, there was this ominous message from the Mayor's desk,
and they told us to go to the spire to get him.
Was it the work of those shadow people?

Shadow people? I wouldn't know too much about that.
That seems more of a question for our King,
as you know we've been through some rough times as of late
and any major concerns or new information should go directly to
    the King himself. Anything else?

Our local history is quite vast and I am an expert in such a field.

Since that terrible event in the old human city not far from here,
yeah - the Spire has become somewhat of a stronghold for us Imps.
The "kingdom" back then only consisted of a few houses around the top
of this mountain and a few on the top. Since then, well - we've moved on.
Lack of resources due to the city being almost completely totalled,
cutting off any trading connections we had locally - we were forced into
working harder and transporting our goods into more distant lands.
Eventually we just began to live inside of the mountain,
spanning from the high ground to the deep underground system -
that's where all the good minerals are.

In time, we simply integrated work life and home life as one.
We live where we work, that's just how it is now.

Oh and, this should take you some of the way down.
You'll have to jump, its fun - like a slide.
    See you down there.
    HUP.

If you want to know anything else just let me knowwwwwwww...

    Well, yes I suppose!
I mean, look at you all - here!
The heroes! I thought there was one more of you though, but...
Well no, that's alright. You'll find the fourth sooner or later.

    Get ready for the landing!

    >So, what kind of legends do your people have?

    Oh, just... General legends really.
The heroes of prophecy is a worldwide tale.
We have a few, little legends - like the great tale of
The First Earth Elemental and such.
I'm sure you're familiar with the story.
We don't really have any other sort of prophecies,
if that's what you were wondering.

I mean, there is one but...
    You know what? Nevermind.
    Its not important.

Just down here, follow me! Keep up!

Huh, now you have our interests piqued. Tell us about the first Earth Elemental.

So you haven't heard of the tale before?
Well I guess it isn't quite as popular as the prophecy of heroes...
Considering its a much older legend, im surprised.

    Very well then.
    The story goes like this...

    ~>

In the early days of this world,
the elementals were created to protect our planet and its inhabitants.
To keep things in balance and ensure the safety of all.
Thus, during that time numerous schemes were marked in order
to ensure this line of elementals would continue throughout time.

The fire elementals would be born from great heat and molten earth.
The water elementals (of the time that is), would form from the
    deepest depths of the oceans.
The air elementals were born from spirits of the world,
through which they would be proven that they could
protect their old land even in their death.
(Which is what i'm assuming your spirit friend here is aiming for!)

But for the earth elementals, they were simply created from
    the planet's very rock.

    ~>

It was a powerful deity long ago who would create
the first earth elemental to ever exist!
A golem of sorts, made from rock and ground.
The elemental would be bestowed with earth magic -
as it was with all elementals to have power over their
    assigned elemental magics.

    ~>

The golem alone would not suffice to guard over the
planet's earth alone - as there was much of it to guard.

Instead, it was also tasked with another role.

    ~>

It would replicate itself, create another of its kind
    using its own earthly magics.
And from one, there was two.
    From two, there was four.
    From four, there was eight.
This chain would continue until there were many.
When it was deemed there were enough,
the instruction that whenever one would fall,
a new golem would be created to take its place.
This ensured the numbers of these elementals would always be strong.

To this day, no one is ever truly sure if the first earth elemental
ever perished, some believe that it may be amongst the others,
working away in unison to protect the very earth that made it.

Thus the story of the first earth elemental concludes.

    >Tell us about that prophecy

    Ah... Maybe some other time.

Oh hey, we're nearly in the city now.

Jacques agrees with you and lets the imp know how it is.
The guy better fess up what he knows or no one's going anywhere.

    ~>

Harassing the King's Vassal is often frowned upon in our society.
And as a hero to this land you are expected to live up to standards.
You strike me as someone who is quick to temper and perhaps a little...
Shall we say difficult to deal with?
You strike me as that kind of person and
that kind of person does not harbour the attitude of a hero.
    You will correct this.

    You will follow.

    > Jacques: It seems this guy really doesn't want to talk about it, my advice would be not to press on it for now.

    > Jacques: Tell the guide that you are tired from the travel, and that you did not mean to come across this rude. Continue to attempt to get the information out of this guy by explaning that you think this information seems important. If he persists, ask him whether he would tell you some time later.

    > Jacques: You have a near omnipotent deity on your side. Ask the guide whether there is something he want really bad. Trade it for the information.

Coffee Shop: Have tea. Made from rocks.
Bestow the vasal with a badge for actually having the courage and the moxy to stay calm with Jaques fire. Imps like badges.
Badges: Suddenly turn to a fast spreading fad.
Everyone else: Be jealous of the imp.

Jacques and Milo can't even believe what just happened.
They are so out of here when they get the chance.

    >Susan: Be the diplomat.

She is having no part in this, those two are just plain rude!

    ~>

Anyway, I want to talk more about the city's general structure as a whole...
I am so sorry but I never caught your names, which is very impolite of me.
    What were they now...?

Susan continues to accompany the imp and discuss matters of historical events,
working roles, trades commonly made before the time of the incident and other
terribly, terribly irrelevant things. This could go on for hours and it probably will.

    ~>

Jacques and Milo are so out of here.

    ~>

The two find themselves in an IMP CAFE.
It seems quiet at the moment, everyone must be working.
At least this menu looks a little more extensive than the slime cafe's menu...

Jacques goes through the general introduction that yes he is totally a human
wow golly gosh haven't seen one of them for a while whoa.

Yeah, humans are back in town.
We'll have a tea, a coffee and whatever you have
here that's decent enough to eat.

Heroes by the way, hope there's a discount for that.

Re: Nothing Much - Act Two: Something More

Drop a moderate size bag of coins on the counter. Not too big, but big enough to cover the tea and shit (At full price, just in case there isn't a heroes discount) plus tip.

We dont uh... Normally have... humans around he-

    ~>

No, no. Just- Stop right there. Jacques has had enough.
He really doesn't want to hear any more about the distinct abundance of humans
around here or the fact that heroes have a pretty hefty weight on their shoulders
and they need to stick to the right things or they're mess everything up or whatever.

Can he just get his order, please?

    >Jacques: Hey man, you used to be a pretty cool guy.
You're getting pretty angry these days though.
Maybe wheel that back some, hmm?

He knows, he knows. Its just... This is a lot to take in all at once.
    Its exciting but... Just...
One day you're a nobody, just some guy travelling and then...
Boom. Big shot hero with responsibilities to save the world and all that.
You don't just... You know... Process that easily.

    ~>

He means... This is just a big thing, all this!
He didn't come here expecting anything like this to happen.
Hey here comes Jacques the guy who'll save us all better expect that
he'll be the perfect little hero who just isn't who he is.

    ~>

He just wants to travel, go sightseeing, explore a little -
without all this hero to-do business and that guy creeping about on us.
Its exciting but also a little nerve-wracking and kind of a burden.
And all the talk of whoa humans aren't they all dead is getting to him too.
Yeah, humans are kind of scarce around here it was traumatic and awful,
he doesn't really want to hear about everyone being dead that much more.
    Makes him a little worried.

    ...

This tea is green tea. Not his favourite but, its alright. It'll do.

Poor Jacques, he'll get over this phase in time, you're sure of it.
