...how the hell did I forget about that show?

Anyway, need some advice for tomorrow, guys.
So my mother has seen the McDonald's toys and blind bag figures around my room, she has seen my Derpy shirt, and she knows that my brother's fiance likes My Little Pony.(Oh and she has seen my ModNation pony creations, though I don't think she knows I actually made them)
This is a problem for me simply because I'm planning on getting more pony merch. As of now, she kind of sees it as me having those little collections for sort of ironic purposes.

I think that I'm going to get it over with and flat out tell her that I'm legitimately into ponies. Better to pull the band-aid off quickly than it is to slowly peel it off, right? Hell, if it weren't for me, my brother, his fiance, and both my nephews wouldn't be into it. Might leave that part out, though, even though I'm really proud that both of them could see past the gender barriers and give it a real chance, both of them, it turns out, really enjoy it.

Anyway, what I'm getting at is I don't know precisely how it's going to go down. If she asks to see "what the fuss is about", what should I show her? I guess the best bet would be to try an episode, but it needs to be one that has some good funny moments, isn't invaded by the excess girlishness she'll probably expect, and doesn't really require vast knowledge of the characters beyond, you know, things like "Twilight is the smart one."

Okay, I saw this post, then went back to the previous page to see more posts, then came back to this page, and THEN I laughed out loud.

You are a weird time delay bomb, post.

I just mentioned it offhand on a few occasions and in one case wrote a fucking note about it.

So there's doing that and not making a huge deal out of it.

And mM, you timed that last post perfectly.

I would suggest just not making a big deal about it. You like ponies. And? :V It shouldn't be a big deal. If she ever asks you if you are and to elaborate, fine. Unless I'm trying to share my interests with someone, I don't go "by the way, I'm a gamer/homestuck/furry/etc"

The bigger the deal you make about it, the bigger of a problem it will seem like it is. If they think liking ponies is weird, you thinking it's weird and still doing it will make them think you are mental.

You could try strength in numbers: Get your brother and his fiancee and have them all confirm brony-dom with you for what it is. The pony toys you can say that you legitimately like them AND that they will probably have a high monetary value for collectors in the future in case their sentimental value ever runs out. Also, toys for future kids of your own!

As for the episode... If she watched Indiana Jones / was ever in a hospital, you could try with "Read it and weep". Plenty of pop culture & non-girlishness, ok morale, decent gags, no character foreknowledge required (at least that isn't self-explanatory).

Or if you want to choose an episode try to base it on her preferences. Ask yourself the following:
-Does she like slightly mature cartoons, like Family Guy, Simpsons, Futurama?
-Does she know the concept of tropes, especially animation tropes, e.g. can she recognize Pinkie Pie's toon nature and some of the other cartoon tropes/cliches, like the Bugs Bunny swap?
-Does she got into MST3K mode for cheesy moments in movies/cartoons?
-What kind of attitude/preferences/history does she have towards movies and cartoons?
-Could she recognize some of the "clever" references (Salvador Dali, Gone with the wind, I love Lucy, Brutus, etc...)

Anyway, here's something I never expected to see: An actual game of Patapon, ponified!

the one time i did tell somebody about it, they were cool with it until it turned out that they thought i was just making a strange joke earlier

which is either the mark of an awesome, or terrible hobby

"lemme tell you a secret.....i'm into my little pony"

    "haha, never change"

I didn't word it well because I was falling asleep while I was posting that. What I meant is that I'm going to pretty much tell her that I like ponies, that it's one of the best shows I've seen in a long time, and that I actually kinda like the merch. If she asks me to elaborate, I'll show her an episode.

My brother would never own up to being a brony. He's the kind of guy that instantly pauses whatever he's watching whenever someone else is in the room, and mutes the TV or goes "LALALALA" when the title theme plays. My nephews may speak up if they're here when I tell her though.

Man but does Pinkie Pie seem to get all the fandom love. Not surprising, but still.

I may have to check that out, I do love me some rhythm games.

I don't really like that video. Why does Rainbow Dash keep talking about this Chad guy? Why does she WAN TO GO GO GO with him?

Sorry guys, only one pony comic in this post, and absolutely nothing else of note.

You know, I'm kind of glad that the image I just posted is so funny, because I need a laugh now.

My parents are stopping me from going to Bronycon.

Okay disregard this, I had a talk with them and while my travel arrangements have changed, I'm still going.
