Alright, here's my wide-open thoughts, in response to that remark Stiq made. As clearly he took my post in a scummy way.

First off, i'll explain my post and hopefully eradicate any thoughts of scum before they're created. Keep in mind that i'm still experimenting with how you'll react to my posts. I'm generally trying to refrain from opening up on my thoughts on things, because this is my first mafia and while I would like to be treated equally with everyone else, I don't want to blatantly pour my thoughts openly to people that could be scum, seeing my thoughts and being like "Oh, maybe if I change up how I act." (1) Also, my general lack of posting is due to both my observations, and the fact that during my absences, a few of your are on and you post wildly. Then once I check in and post once then go back into my observant phase, you call me out on scum. (2)

Clearly my general caution on everyone has lead to me being thought of as scum, aaand, I expected that. Am I being too defensive?

Now for my thoughts of everyone.

Eidelonic - I don't have all that much of an opinion on you, but I don't think you're scum. When I read your posts I get a kind've generally honest feel about them.

Masterblade - Same feel as Eidelonic, not much an opinion other than that. Your posts seem too genuine and real to me to be feigned.

Crilly - Your first post was a gif captioned "Please shoot me in the face." Perhaps there was something else hidden behind that, but it seems like a request to me. (3) As well as this, your posts are mostly always small, and occasionally you simply post gifs in response to what other people are saying, instead of an actual post. That could just be how you are (4), because I haven't seen you around the forums much. But, to me it's suspicious behavior.

AProcrastinatingWriter - You had that huge post a while ago, and now you pretty much halted. That's all i've got to say about that, really.

Palamedes - You defended me, and thus I am lead to doubt that you're scum. (5)

StiqFigurMaster - I don't like how quick you are to vote for a lynching as soon as possible evidence presents itself. Maybe it's the smallness of your posts involving opinions on people, but I feel like you're not really analyzing anyone but instead jumping on people as soon as you or someone else suspect something. (6) I'm probably wrong on this, but i've yet to see you vote on someone based on your own opinion and not someone else's post.

Acionyx -I guess nobody has voted for you because you're a veteran of Mafia games and thus intimidating? (7) Well, i'll be honest i'm not all that intimidated by you, another reason for my previous post. Treat this post as a response to your question also. I want to know what you think and why you haven't voted on anyone lately. Your avatar is badass, though. :/

I'm probably wrong with all of my opinions, but you wanted them. If I didn't mention you it's because I don't have much of an opinion on you.

In any case: Vote Stiq instead of Acionyx.

1) that's baaaasically a good strategy. However...

2) This is considered scummy because while it's not necessarily a good idea to make posts full of huge, obvious reasons, nor necessarily a good idea to put vague pressure on someone without being very specific, posting absolutely nothing is generally considered to be VERY anti-town, if not necessarily an indication of being scum, because firstly it contributes nothing to the ongoing discussion, and secondly because turbolurking is a disturbingly effective scum strategy. It probably shouldn't work, but it often does.This is a big part of why I initially wanted to place a vote on you.

3-4) That's basically what Crilly does, yes. Also, in context, he was referring to Zatch's refusal to partake in RVS. Let's not get into that again.

5) A smart scum will do absolutely anything to look town, and keeping alive a serial lurker to have someone to take the fall later is frankly just a nice bonus.
Plus you could always be on a scumteam, but perhaps that's wishful thinking.

6) I will readily admit that I haven't been very open about my thought processes and that I have sort of followed the lead of some other players. This is partly because those players are huge townreads for me and because I frequently miss things. I still don't care for Pala, frankly.

7) It would be far more accurate to say that if Acio is town, he's going to be dead in a day or two anyway, and so if he's scum, we're going to know before too long. Also, Acio is notoriously much better as town than scum, though I'll admit this isn't the most pro-town Acio has been. The short version is, nobody votes Acio because we're inclined to believe him until proven otherwise.

Hope that was helpful. Please become more productive before I feel the compulsion to try to start a lynch on you again.

(protip: there's nothing you can do to consistently look town. It's been said that "everything is scummy" and that's partly true; basically the only thing you can do to look town is to make a tangible and ongoing effort to aid town. There's not a lot of things that can't be turned around and interpreted as scum gambits, and mislynches are basically inevitable. Do as many objectively/apparently pro-town things as you can manage and then you'll be onto something.)

By the way when you say mechanical reasons, I interpret it as something that can be done to obtain the same result over an exceeding numbers of times with nonfluctuating evidence.
Claiming a character and role is likely to be fallible if someone has played the game, knows the npcs by heart and decides to twist it.
For someone like me who hasn't played the game itself, I probably should just go look up it to see if it's something that would along side what you declared.

I'm not saying your role claim is fake, but this is something that came across my mind.
