My grandfather once brought home to my father some canned chicken from the discount store. It was actually cat food and labelled "not for human consumption".

I think I've heard some stories before about people who have actually eaten cat food. Surprisingly, it was apparently (?) edible. Unsurprisingly, it tasted like dried vomit.

whats with cats? ive grown up with dogs my whole life and they eat anything from tomatoes and lettuce to pasta and bread. cats want NONE of that. what is their deal? are they doing something to their gross food that we cant see? something that makes it better?

    Re: Cat Food

I tried cat food once due to curiosity, it tasted like... nothing in particular. Well, a little like cardboard I guess. I can't make any comparisons to dried vomit because I haven't quite got the balls to try that particular culinary specialty.

Hard as hell to chew, though.
    Whoa.

Cat food is really high-energy and really high-protein because cats have weird guts, like being a human who can't survive on anything but biscuits and cake. Cats are also Actual Carnivores whereas dogs are only Supposedly Carnivores (they will happily eat any damn thing, up to and including another dog's shit which they just vomited up).

My dog used to eat his own shit, true story. Couldn't let the bugger have a moment of privacy because he'd come in with this awful brown smile and start wafting up the worst smell you can imagine. Didn't help that for a few years one of his teeth was rotting. He's dead now, bless his heart.

i seriously know a guy like this. he had to get most of his bowel or whatever cut out for some reason so he can't have things like bread and potatoes because his body can't handle a low GI or something? i forget how it went but the guy pretty much lives off jellybeans and chocolate cakes.

    Re: Cat Food

I'd like to keep this discussion going, and contribute with some cat food of my own.

I own a seven year old tortoiseshell cat named Momo, and this is her cat food:

I hope you all enjoy, and decide to purchase some for your own cats to try out!
