I avoid hipsters, when I can recognise them. If they're that ostentatious about it, then they're just in it to be part of the trend. My university magazine has a section called "Diary of a Hipster", which is just fashion tips for ladies who go out partying and making out with dudes they don't know. Is this what a hipster is? It sounds like another word would be more appropriate, which I will refrain from using because awesome ladies are probably present and I don't want to offend them.

I don't think that's a hipster. It sounds nothing like a hipster. Unless, of course, this is all infact ironic in some way. A level of irony a Strider could recognise, but probably find without serious artistic value to really be worth it, and mostly falls under the level of 'Probably legitimate', which is a terrible dishonour for any hipster.

I know people who are into obscure stuff, but they aren't into it for ironic purposes, or because other people like it. They like it because it's good. They don't wear hipster glasses, or scarfs, or beanies or other fancy hats. This annoys me. Being ostentation about being a fan of something just annoys me, because it seems too much like a demand for attention. "I wear this xkcd shirt in public! Look at how smart I must be!" "I am drawing this My Little Pony in chalk on the pavement because Ponies. Ponies is why." "I am writing a Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff-themed article about our roadtrip to Wellington."

These are all real examples, and they are all excellent things to be a fan of, but trumpeting your appreciation of it just comes across to me as a bit obnoxious.

I agree with everything there. There is always a bad side to fandoms. But we are also really cool too, and I think it's great how I can talk to like minded people on here. Hell, I even learn stuff from what people say. Maybe more than I should know.

This statement alone makes me think to the contrary. Somehow. We'll have to see, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did somehow come back into the story. Not sure how important he would be, but you never know.

That isn't quite what he said. With Andrew everything is a joke and at the same time everything is deadly serious. Except that the seriousness is just part of the joke, apart from when it's not.

I'm constantly mining content from my older work to incorporate into Homestuck. The instances of this are hard to quantify. Let's talk about Equius again. Lot's of people thought he had depth beyond his gags, and that's definitely true. But that wasn't what was relevant about him, to me personally. He was always the troll personification of everything like Humanimals I ever did and put on the internet. (Hence is lusus is basically a Humanimal.) I used to do all sorts of weird stuff, reviewing obscene furry pornography, making weird collages involving horses, and just a whole lot of bizarre shit that didn't make much sense, but I thought was funny. The whole span of these endeavors was quite trollish in nature, and you will agree if you peruse Humanimals. The fact that it puts some people off is part of what makes it funny. So Equius was that entire arena of trollish content, rolled into a character. That's why I was STRONGLY committed to maintaining the integrity of his arc, as I defined it. It was more important by far for me to adhere to his role as the fucked up dude who embodies all that stuff than have him blow it by doing something heroic. He believed he died a death of supreme integrity. And so do I.

Don't get me wrong, he was still a gag character. But this was the precise nature of the gag, an homage to an entire vein of humor I used to deal in copiously. He, like some others, trolled you in life, and then trolled you in death. What happened in between, you ask? Well, that was just you falling in love.

He STRONG jumps out of his dream bubble, highjacks a horrorterror with Nepeta and rides it out of paradox space. On the way he spirals into a destructive depression when Nepeta abandons his quest for retribution against the flawed Highblood, joining up with the remaining trolls. He faces down Gamzee in the rain slicked crater where the meteor entered the A1 universe, a fleet of Condesce battle ships hovering in the storm clouds above, closing in. After he beats Gamzee to a pulp, barely surviving, he waits for the Condesce cruisers to fire, obliterating him. Back in his dreambubbles, he finds Aradia, his respite. He spends the rest of eternity living out his final battle with Gamzee, the moment of clarity before the lasers burned him to ashes, leaving only the smouldering embers of his ruinous shadow in his wake. The moment where he learned what he was truly worth.

I don't even know why I wrote that, but it's there. I guess you'll have to be okay with that.

Well I was joking, but it almost seems like Hussie is a bit like Dave/Dirk in the respect that he uses ambiguity and irony to cover up the truth, because he is always right. Always.

You can like something and not be a fan of it in the proper sense - for example, I like going to the cinema. I am not a film fanatic.

I guess that Eridan is the most zealotic of the trolls in the end? Although Gamzee qualifies in the religious sense, I suppose.

More like Dirk than Dave, really - Andrew says he was sincere, as well. Of course, you could say "to hell with what he says, The Author is Dead!", but that really just sidesteps the discussion in this case.

So since we're talking (sort of) about people who are dead in the comic, and I'm thinking about characters, what do people think of Tarvos? I think him being a page would have been more interesting a character development then just playing the victim to Vriska's antics, especially since now we understand more about the page class. Although maybe Hussie avoided that just for the overwhelming potential for cliche morals.

Oh my. A man of my own heart. You should of been here when I thought up Horrorstuck Part 2: Nightmare Fight. It's basically Dave being mentally tortured by Gamzee until he breaks into a sobbing mess, while also trying to save, I think, Terezi, who was kidnapped by Gamzee. Gamzee was also using a chuckle-voodoo manipulated Lil' Cal, brought to life, to reinforce the nightmare. I even got fanarts for it.

Gamzee had a throne made of bones of the trolls, with tiny little shelves for the decapitated heads to sit on, up along the back of the chair. At the top was a spike for Dave's head.

Would you say the same if you went to the cinema EVERYDAY? Because that's the equivalent here. He eats entire tubs of Nutella by himself. I think this is something that many would consider 'fanatical'.

UU and uu will probably be introduced later than any of us would like though ]: There are a lot of stuff unresolved as of yet.
