vote Jacquerel for being too smart for his own good >:U
...At the risk of being seen as very stupid, is there a list of roles, powers, and mechanics? Because I don't see anything...
This is a closed setup game, meaning that all that we can do is guess.
I guess closed setups aren't really the norm outside of this forum? I pretty much started here so it seems like the default ruleset to me but most other places seem to treat open setups as the usual.
But no, there's no list of roles, powers and mechanics other than the rules.
You'll just have to use your pre-existing knowledge of what a role can be and guess!

@_@ I've never even heard of this before. How is it even possible to figure anything out?
Do you find out alignment or role when people die?
What's the standard number of bad guys to good guys in games like this?
Yes, when someone dies you'll find out both their role and alignment, unless some power prevents this (which is unlikely but possible)
Oh Ix, don't worry, people will start claiming stuff left and right soon enough. They just can't resist putting everything out in the open. And yes, they do flip fully on death! You get to learn alignment and role and everything. Well, unless someone janitors them.
Anyways, usually stuff gets figured out based on likelihood. Like if someone is a miller then there's probably a cop. (Ha ha. ;_;)
Or combination with flavor, like it would make sense for Kat to be a [x]-shot inventor, but being a dayvig, not so much. You'll get the hang of it.
And if you're not sure, you can always just kill them to clear things up! Yay!
qe: we're most likely looking at 3 scum members, maybe 4 if town has a lot of power roles, idk
This is going to be really hard. I've been in 4 games total now, and all had full role lists and stuff. I don't know what a miller role is, although I do know cop, but inventor? dayvig?
Millers are roles that appear guilty from cop investigations despite actually being town, they're not everyone's favourite role
Inventors usually have an array of one-shot powers that can imitate the abilities of other roles, like they can investigate one night and doctor the next but only once.
Dayvigs are vigilantes that shoot people during the day. I guess you know what a vigilante is? They're like town-sided nightkill roles.
If someone claims a role (and to be honest Seedy was right, it probably won't be too long until they will) then they will usually be made to explain it or one of us will just do it for you.
This site has a pretty good list of things you might look out for though.
Thanks Jac, this should be really helpful

Lynch InoxFy for being mean to helpful people!
Also importantish roles:
Bulletproof: Immume to nightkill
Janitor: Maf only, makes their nightkill not flip(reveal). usually oneshot.
Godfather: The antimiller. IIf cops check you, you're inno. You are the leader of the mafia.
Hunter: Kills another player when dead.
Serial killer: Pretty much a 1 man maf.
Wizard: Wins for town if last alive. (Not likely to appear in normal games)
Acolyte/informed townie: Knows with 100% certainty another player is town.(Not likely to appear in normal games)
Warlock: Guess the next lynch target x number of times to win (Not likely to appear in normal games)
Obliterator: Serial killer, but instead of killing, match the role and player publicly. If correct, they die, and you become unkillable. If not, you're going to be instalynched. (Not likely to appear in normal games)
Spoonpolisher: Choose a player: If they are murdered in the night, they die a day later. (Not likely to appear in normal games) (Also don't ask where the name came from)
Cult: If this exists, I'm dropping out. Just FYI
Mad inventor: LIke inventor, but you make up your own oneshots! (Not likely to appear in normal games)
Karkat: Kill yourself, choose the lynch.(Not likely to appear in normal games)
JJester: Get lynched. Win.(Not likely to appear in normal games)
Things marked unlikely to appear are either nerfed versions of other roles to the point of uselessness, gamebreakingly unbalanced, alignmentswapping or simply unfair to players to the point of Not Being Fun.
I'm all of the above
I'd lynch you, but I can't, since you'd win.
(Stupid jester)
(Also I Guessed we'd be lynching Fivex.)
I mean I'm not a warlock stop these silly accusations immediatly.
