Regarding combat training. Let me tell you about some tricks used by an old friend down in the city.
Use a shield. Block an attack, then swing, 1 2. Then be ready to block again. Block 1 2 block 1 2. If you are feeling brave, go for a 3. Block 1 2 3.
Use heavy armor. It's uncomfortable at first, but there are people who use it and move like they're wearing nothing at all, nothing at all. I would know, I'm one of them.
Practice EVERYTHING. Sneaking might be hard at first, heavy armor and all, but like I said, nothing at all. And my friend says he can cast magic out of his weapon. So practice magic too. And a bow and alchemy can never harm you. Weapon repair, hand-to-hand, athletics, jumping, lock picking, mercantile, and speechcraft. That should cover everything.
