    Frickin' everyone gets piercing. The Pomson doesn't, sadly, but shotguns, scatterguns, miniguns - basically anything that isn't an explosive (or the Pomson). Yes, that's right; you can have a piercing, higher-damage, faster-charging pissrifle. That causes head explosions.

    I've yet to play extensively at all, but from a(n impossible-to-beat*) test with singleplayer, Engie looks to be my favored class. While I quite like that during setup, all buildings automatically start at level 3, I suspect I'll end up rolling the Gunslinger and play Battle Engie. My reasons boil down to a pair:

    - The Engineer has several upgrades that enhance his metal pool
    and
    - Piercing Widowmaker


    *It should be noted that, while literally impossible to beat wave one with one player, I still had fun getting my ass handed to me by all those robots. I s'pect I'll be playing MvM for quite a long time.

    I would not be at all surprised if the Frontier Justice had piercing too, and given the sheer volume of things your sentries will be killing (especially with the fire rate and health buffs you can give it), and the clip size/reload speed/fire rate upgrades pretty much every gun has...

    i really want to try an all-medic run with this. the bots will totally let you chain uber off them, and with a speed boost you can even catch up to the scouts. i guess it'd be tough to take out the tanks, but switching to kritz right before might get enough damage on them.

    You *need* 6 people i've found, and people keep leaving midway and screwing over everyone else. Plus there are some bots which are just evil. Like Giant Rapid Fire Soldiers which obliterate sentries and overhealed heavies.

    Mann Mode is hard
    It took us something like 1.5-2 hours to complete the seven waves.

    You do not get your cash reset between class or weapon swaps so you cannot easily experiment.
    Engineer and Medic feel a little required but that was only expected.

    Scout with a fully upgraded bat is a thing of beauty.

    If it works it's fun, but that's a pretty big 'if'.
    I've only been able to complete one mission, and that was because of a glitch where even though the bots successfully bombed the facility, we could continue playing, and every time the bots touched the bomb shaft, they'd die. All the other times I tried, either the server froze, the game froze, or the game's graphics messed up. Or a special combination of the three.
    Still, fun chaos, if nothing breaks.

    Kind of buggy it seems. I played through a full mission with no problems, but then crashed repeatedly on the next. Try telling your antivirus to ignore your stats directory.

    I'm not sure if it works against BOTS, because I didn't get the chance to actually test it against them, but the widowmaker does NOT give you ammo back when you're shooting at the tank. It still does damage, though.

    As for my opinions on MvM: It's fun when you first start, but it feels like something's missing. There's no strategy involved, or extremely little if you count class composition. It's just 'plop down a couple sentries, buy piercing on heavies, gg'. I wish there was some kind of offensive mode or a more strategy-based one.


    Valve still did a good job with it, though.

    You can make a server that only has four slots, and play by yourself. You will only get 3 bots at a time. It will take forever to beat a wave, and your console will get spammed with messages about you needing 24 but it can be done.

    When the other servers are up, make sure to post the IPs here, I end up getting booted from servers for "disconnect after 4 retries" after waiting for an hour.

    as long as you're not playing in a part, you can just open servers, filter by 'mvm' and sort by players

    If that's true, why does it take so long? I actually tried that and it just booted me out of the servers when I tried any way.

    I tried it out single player 1v3, but couldn't really enjoy it due to the item servers (SHOCKINGLY) being down. It probably won't be playable for another day or two at least.

    So who else likes getting backcapped by robot soldiers on the last wave; that sure was fun times!

    but yeah having 10 rockets in my clip and machinegun reload+firing.... the best thing ever??? unless, like... oh man do they have that for the loch and load, or the scout's throwables? basically what is the most broken-ass upgrade you guys have found

    I don't know about broken but the heavy's piercing 40% speed increased 500 ammo minigun scares me
    If only we got more cash I could make it restore 100 health on each kill too

    i think the matchmaking tries to fill up half-full servers, so there are a handful of 1/36 and 2/36 servers sitting around. the downside is that some of them are just crashing and rebooting because of broken plugins, but it's much faster than matchmaking.

    also, +60% damage on grenade launcher is the best thing ever against the 150 scout wave on decoy. one direct hit means 3 dead scouts, it's glorious.
