    Africans Scattered, Total Victory Imminent

As of last night, the African capital of Egypt was taken by the great Italian navy, severely crippling the African war effort. A month earlier, a weakened African army was also destroyed in Ethiopia and the country was conquered, putting all of eastern Africa under Italian control. With only the stronghold of Tunis remaining, which itself is heavily besieged and about to fall, the African Empire is close to catipulating. After the seige of Tunis ends with a predictable Italian victory, 'negotiations' will begin with France to make sure that Italy gains its rightful African lands.

    Balkan Conflict Breaks Out

Several reports have been streaming in regarding the armed conflict between Austria, Russia, and Turkey centred around the Balkans. Referred to by many experts as the 'Balkan Shuffle', the conflict was believed to have been started by Turkey when they marched on Bulgaria, seizing the free nation for themselves. That's what Russia claimed anyways, when they invaded Rumania in retaliation. Austria in turn responded to this Russian hostility by sending forces to take over Serbia, and Turkey stated that it was Austria's aggression that brought them to declare war on Bulgaria. A confusing story indeed.

Regardless, Austria followed up their attack on Serbia with an occupation of Greece, and as a result all three powers began massing troops on their respective borders in anticipation of all out war. A war that started this spring, with large battles centered around Serbia and Klug. So far most of the battles fought ended in stalemates, but the Austrians managed to defeat a Russian force in the Ukraine and push them back.

With France and Germany fighting, England in anarchy, and this new conflict it seems Europe is in a state of total war. Prime Minister Palamedes has stated his interest in maintaining Italian neutrality in this conflict, but one must wonder how long we can keep such a peaceful attitude up with war so close to our borders.

    obligatory thread post

Japan continues it's pursuit of honor, hoping to expand into the miniaturization market so that it can hold even more. We may have confused honor with phones though.

Re: Youngstown Diplomacy [1902 Winter] MORE ARMIES

    Bears Triannually
    Winter 1902 Issue

Ireland Remains Peaceful - But For How Long?
DUBLIN, IRELAND - All 72 supply centers have been claimed. That is, except for Ireland. Reports have indicated that no army has attempted to seize Ireland as of yet. The ceasefire issued by England has kept the citizens at rest as they fear no risk of invasion. When asked about the peaceful few years, one citizens replied, "We have been waiting for England to deliver our potatoes for years now. Our population is at an all-time low!"

Reporters think that Ireland needs to stop whining about their fucking spuds and be thankful that they haven't been ransacked by hostile nations like all of the rest of us!

More on this story as it develops.

    Japan Enters The Mainland
KOREA - For years, Russians have been wondering, "What's Japan?" Rumors about the countries existence have finally been proved true as a fleet of Japanese soldiers entered Russia's Korean base. These soldiers have told us that the land of Japan is, in fact, real.

After more extensive research, sources have shown that Japan's army has more than doubled in size since the war's beginning.

Italy laughs at your measly three units.

What's more, Japan doesn't seem to have figured out the cannon yet. Mysterious.

Re: Youngstown Diplomacy [1902 Spring] [The Rise of Italy]

    News from India:

The country is in chaos after the recent disappearance of the foreign minister. The government is now in turmoil due to the loss of this position, and the post is open to any new candidates. As of now, the Minister of War will handle all diplomatic communiqués. In addition, all accords will have to be re-negotiated, as the Foreign minister kept the messages to himself. The hope is that India can continue to be a global figure in the coming years.

    1903 Nobel Peace Prize Awards
    Reporting from Oslo, Norway

    Physics: China/France
China and France have worked together to earn the Physics award for 1903. The award was earned back in 1901 when the phenomenon occurred where they tried to go into the same area of ocean and neither were allowed in. Their contribution to the field of Physics is monumental!

    Chemistry: India
It seems that last turn the two Ministers of India had some great chemistry, resulting in the stasis of their army. Who knows if this will continue. The rest of the world will surely continue to watch as sparks fly.

    Medicine: Italy
When the Medusa incident struck Germany, Italy was the first country there on the diagnosis. The scientific knowledge of their prime minister is limitless! We hope to see more progress from this now-prosperous country.

    Literature: France
From this country has come quite a few publications. Most notably is their yearly newspaper. Recently, King Scoffles XIV has also published a couple of essays entitled "C'est Fabulique" and "Les Guerreros", both of them striking the hearts of people everywhere.

    Peace: England
England has really been bringing it in the Peace department this year. The highlight of their accomplishments, though, is their willing ceasefire back in 1902. The rest of the world really appreciates this great show of peace.

    The Non-Biased Weekly

    Ultimatum to Germany

Prime Minister Palamedes has released demands to Germany regarding the German-French war devastating the countryside. After talks with France, Italy demands that Germany give up Holland to the French or else our nation with be forced to declare war once again. Hopefully Chief Diplomat Flying S. Monster can make Germany's leader Kaynato understand the severity of the situation and is willing to meet these peace terms, so we may spare Western Europe the sufferings of war tearing through the rest of the world.

Italy, which has just recently finished construction of two new armies, and are now marching towards the Italian city of Munich, to show our nation's willingness to wage war against Germany. Hopefully however, our boys won't have to knock those lazy krauts about and can just settle for peace.

    VA Day - Italians Rejoice

Today, our war against the foul African Empire has finally ended. In Tunis, African Emperor N.P. Character formally surrendered to Admiral Admiral IV, ending the threat of a tyrannical, unified menace in Africa once and for all. The triumphant admiral now sails to Morocco, where he will negotiate with France for the province's inclusion to the Italian Empire. With Africa now defeated, this reporter knows that our proud nation is ready to face any storm that will come, whether it be the potential struggle with Germany, the Balkan war, or the rumours of a Japanese naval juggernaut.

    Japan Still Backwards

Top Italian scientists and inventors recently returning from the island nation of Japan report that the nation still has not managed to invent the cannon, or indeed any form of land based warfare at all. However, they are not to be taken lightly as their (somehow) impressive warfleets have defeated Chinese and Russian forces on several occasions. Despite the danger they might present in the future, Prime Minister Palamedes has promised to send top Italian engineers to help the island nation modernize. He is truly a man of great character who we should all look up to.

    Balkans Mistake

Prime Minister Palamedes had only this to say regarding the capture of Vienna from Austria and the foiling of the Turkish assaults on Greece and Sevastopol:

    "Oops, my bad."

Italy had not at that point made any formal commitments towards the Balkans struggle between Austria and the (now defunct) Turko-Russian alliance, and claims he acted based on strange Turkish warnings that they would be acting "weird as all hell" and hinted that they might attack us. No explanation has been given for the capture of Vienna past "I really wanted to study some of their sausage technology". However, despite Italian neutrality in the struggle until now our country's actions will warrant Italy taking a firm stance in the conflict, though not even this reporter knows what that might be.

Oh, also Italy is totally scandalized that they didn't receive the Nobel for literature with the Non-Biased Weekly. They do however accept the prize for medicine with humility and thanks.

Japan continues it's capture of the Asian islands, and do not have any plans for making cannons. They also have outlawed all Italian pasta, disclaiming it is for dishonorable citizens only, and instead urge all Japanese citizens to eat ramen only.

    Italy is almost offended.

Then they remember how tiny Japan's holding are and that they are but children on the international stage. Plans to assist Japan in becoming a true modern state are still being discussed, for now.

In other news, ramen has been declared a disgusting bastardization of pasta after many of our people tried it and almost died of awful taste.
