Derpy is blind, new headcanon. It explains why she's so clumsy because she literally cannot see where she is going but doesn't realize why this is a problem so never asks for help or finds other methods to 'see'.

Dinky is levelheaded enough to help when she can, but she's not always around.

It's not like Celestia was psychic or something, and I can't imagine Spike sent a detailed message other than "Twilight is freaking out and I think she's casting spells," she didn't KNOW why Twilight was causing all of this ruckus to begin with. For all Celestia knew after she had undone the spell, Twilight was going mad with power and trying to take over Ponyville. Unlikely? Sure, but again, Celestia didn't KNOW why she was doing what she did. And once she knew what the problem was, she used her words to fix things. Simple, and no "trolling" anywhere.

Three is my preferred number of Applejacks (standard, glittery/crystal/whatever, metallic), or four when/if they come out with a glow-in-the-dark of her, but two identical ones is excessive even for the sprawling mass that is the Apple family.
