Yes, many of the archetypes have OTKs. It's as simple as not using them.

yeah, in the same way that it's as simple as not using gamebreaking combos and still using the banned decktypes and so on
on a seperate note, I won the bronze match 2-0, so the first tournament is officially over
Challonge has round robin tournaments, so I'll be willing to be the tournament organizer.
(basically, like with the first tournament, there's a live image of the tournament bracket, so when I edit it, it will change automatically. I'll give foe the image link.)
Few questions about tournament structure:
(assuming we have 16 players)
So, if I understand this correctly, we will have four pools of four.
Those four will battle each other for points, top two moves on, bottom two stays back. there will now be 8 winners and 8 losers.
Will we continue the round robin from there, or will we have a regular tournament?
If it's round robin, then the pools of 8 are again split up in four.
Top two of each moves on, and they again have a round robin, then the top two has a final match to decide the champion.
Also, will the losers also have a round robin match?
Honestly, I think having a tournament with 8 winners of the round robin match is easier. Less matches too.
If round robins are used to decide everybody from 1st place to 16th place, this guarantees that everybody will have to do 10 matches each. and remember how hard it is to have both players and a judge on at the same time.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but part of the point of using this round robin system is to make it fairer on the players who get a poor matchup in the beginning?
My suggestion would be to start with the round robin rather than end with it, so that players can't be immediately disqualified. Then, say, if someone loses a second time, they are eliminated.
Of course, if we just want to make it easier to place ranking winners, than the final eight works better, but I still feel that leaves a void similar to the first tournament where someone with a good deck gets shut out from playing right at the beginning.
Agree with Skunk. While I'd like to have the RR go all the way through, if we're only going to do it once we should do it at the beginning of the tournament.
I know I should be good for 9-10 matches (which is about what everyone would have I think), and if someone is being difficult to reach they can always be forced to forfeit their matches. It's not perfect, but what are you going to do?
I'm fine with it
I think Spellbook/Prophecy decks should be added to the ban list. Seem far too versatile and strong for the type of tournament we're going for, and while I may have just overlooked something, I've found no good way of keeping them in check making them even stronger.
yeah I'm with psych on this one, Pureblood spellbook decks are absolute shit
no idea what world you're living in Fengar
next you'll be saying Steelswarm should be banned
note - Pureblood means monsters that are part of the archtype only (possible exclusion in the Extra deck) and as few spells/traps that aren't archtype specific as possible.
like
really
Spellbook decks rely entirely on playing spellbook cards which only work ONCE PER TURN
and most of their monsters that aren't 7 star have shit for attack
the only thing that makes them any good is the Temperance of Prophecy and he's... well special summon a level 5 or higher light or dark spellcaster from your deck, and no more special summons this turn so you can't even pull an xyz with it

I've organized the brackets, with two Filler slots, to be replaced by the next two people to sign up.
I can either reveal the brackets now, or I can reveal them when the tournament starts.
(Edit: that is, if foe is okay with me doing this. He still hasn't okay'd it.)
Yeah, it's all good; you can manage it =D Just make sure I'm paired w/ the weakest player
