Disneystuck - Cancelled
Cancelled.
We're doing this! (Or, I should say, I'm doing this and hoping people will join me!) Disneystuck 2013!
Currently planning for a weekend in October, 2013!
Some rough numbers: I'd aim to save up $400-$600 per person (for the tickets, lodging, food, and some extra), plus whatever you need for travel. The quicker you book your trip, the more you'll save. Carpool with friends and split hotels rooms to save on travel and lodging.
Some helpful links for pricing a trip to Disney
Some people who've never been to Disney World think that its all one park. But actually, it's four major parks, plus some minor events outside the parks. If I had to pick only one park to go to, it would most likely be Magic Kingdom, which has Cinderella's castle and is the one most people think of when they think Disney World. There's also Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. These are seperate parks that you would have to buy separate tickets or a multi-park pass to get in to. There's also the free shopping district, Downtown Disney, and some other fun stuff.
These are the expensive suites. They come in a variety of sizes, and have very special perks and themes. I've never stayed in one, so I'm not sure what comes in them. :/
There are seven hotels in the Downtown Disney area that aren't Disney resorts. They get varying benefits that are different from hotel to hotel and may change depending on when you book and when you plan the trip. They are technically on Disney property. Here are the current deals and in each of these hotels.
Here's some information on Christmas at Disney for 2012. The tickets actually work the same as they do for Halloween. I'm not quite sure what they do, though? Again, we'd be going in 2013, but this is just to give you an idea of the price and what we'd do.
Let me know if any of the links don't work at any time. I don't know how often Disney updates their website, but the URLs may change.
Signature Icon Link Info
Also guys, I'm trying to get this out there. I don't really think that this would be huge like a con (or that it would be fun to coordinate a group that big), but maybe a group of 20 or less would be perfect. So if anyone thinks that more people would be interested, can you copy this icon link into your signature?
I made the icon super quick, and I can change it to something better if people want, or if someone else want to take it up. I tried to make it as small as possible, and I can make it smaller if anyone wants. It also has a white background that I can get rid of, if need be. If you want to copy this link, you can copy the whole thing below and take out the spaces.
EDIT: Just so everyone is clear on this, I've been planning this trip for Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida, not Disneyland out in California (I think it's in LA, but I'm not sure...) Sorry if I was unclear about this! :D
Original Post
Would anyone else be interested in a meet at Disney World?
Pros:
It's freaking Disney.
Cons:
It's Disney, so it would be really expensive.
No cosplay. Props, masks, and body/face paint aren't allowed for adults (15+?) so I was told. I might have that wrong.
Did I mention it's expensive?
Throwing the idea out there. I'm thinking about planning for summer, 2013, to give people time to save up.

Halloween 2013 would make more sense if you want to have people cosplay in it since its the only time they let people in, young or old, with costumes.
And yes, its expensive, delaying to Halloween 2013 would not only give you even more time to save up, but it would also let cosplayers join the group as well.
Hi there! I saw this post and I wanted to throw out that my uncle is a crew member at Disneyland, so if you need any help with rules, etc., just ask. I'm at Disneyland every summer, and I'm trying to shoot for Disney World in 2013.
It makes sense to have a meet up Halloween time, but it gets really jam packed then! If you wanted to do it in the summer, people can get away with t-shirts with the character icons on them. Recently, my friend and I wore the shirts of Dirk and Jake with the glasses (but we put them on later after check-in). We didn't have any trouble at all.
I'm willing to get the word out there if you need help!

Re: Disneystuck
Cool! Thanks for the info. I think summer is better since more people have time off and are have some time to travel. I guess if people start showing interest, we can put it to a vote, but I'm planning on early August?
And I was thinking that the kids would be easy to cosplay as and get away with it. And I guess people can cosplay as humanstuck trolls.
Feel free to spread the word. I think it would be a cool chance to meet other fans!

I would love to do this! Even if it is during the summer! I could drive three people too if that is needed! I would be cosplaying as dirk so i might be able to get away with wearing cosplay.... If you want, i can PM you about details or whatever

Hi there! I just read through all of my updates now, and I'm really glad your interested! I think kids cosplay will be the way to go! I'll probably be cosplaying as Dave or Humanstuck Eridan.
I think driving people is a really cool gesture. Depending on how far away you live and how long the car ride will be, just be safe and smart about who you give rides to. I live in the area, so I won't be needing a ride (in fact, I was going to offer to pick anyone up from airports if they need it), but maybe we can start a carpooling list in the original post?
Also, and this is a general question, would anyone make plans to stay in a hotel and maybe make a weekend or three day trip out of it? I'm going to do a little research and post some links in the original thread about how to book trips in the Disney suites and hotels, and some other hotels in the area. ;D
I think by October we should start actually picking dates, so people know how long they have to save up.

I'm a disney vacation club member so i basically get to stay there for free at certain hotels. I could definately stay for a weekend! Just getting into the park would be a pretty big spender... not to mention getting food and such... there is always group rates and food plans... I wouldn't mind letting people stay at the hotel as well, That would knock out a big expense. A three day trip sounds really fun too! because certain rates are cheaper that way

Re: Disneystuck
Hokay, guys. Sorry I've been really busy. :/ I do take on way too many projects at once.
So, I was talking to a friend of mine about Disneystuck, and she mentioned that winterbreak might be a really good time to go. Since it's the middle of september, I'm going to lay out some tentative dates for people to mull over, and then we can decide on more concrete date (not set in stone, but at least a month and general idea of a date).
First option: Middle of summer 2013(mid June to early July). This is better for people still in highschool and maybe those in college. It will conflict with most summer semesters in college, though. It will also be hot and crowded, and we're less likely to get a deal for the trip.
Second option: Late Summer 2013 (early August). This is best for those who have a summer schedule to worry about. It will still be hot and crowded, though. Slight chance for deals.
Third option: Beginning of September 2013. This will conflict with school for everyone, but it will significantly reduce the price. It will also be less crowded, meaning shorter lines and we can make more of the trip.
Fourth option: Halloween 2013 (which doesn't have to be Oct. 31). There are several select days that are considered Halloween Party days. The pros are that we can dress up (go cosplayers!) and it will be a bit cooler. The cons are that the ticket system is confusing and more expensive (you have to buy a separate ticket, but I'm not sure what it does), and depending on the specific date we choose, it will probably be equally crowded, if not more so, than a trip during the summer.
Fifth option: Christmas/Winter 2013/2014 It will be decorated for the holidays and very pretty. It will also be cooler. Depending on when we want to go relative to Christmas, it may be very crowded. It will also probably be expensive, but it would give us over a year to save up.
Sixth option: Spring Break Time 2013 (March to April) This will give us the shortest time to save, it will be hot, and it's unlikely that we'll find a date that works for everyone's Spring Break. I also have to say no to anything between March 1-10 (I'll be out of the country). I think we might get some discounts, since it's still sort of off-season, but we wouldn't get the way-in-advance discounts that we might get for booking next year.
Anyone have any ideas/concerns/questions?

Re: Disneystuck - Now Picking Dates!
Okay guys, I made a poll to decide generally when we want to plan the trip. I tried to make it close at 11/1, but I think I counted wrong and it closes at 11/2 instead. Oops. All well. After the poll is closed, we can talk about specific dates. Probably by 11/10 we'll have an exact weekend picked so we can book early to to get better deals on hotels.
Also, there's now a link for information on Christmas parties at Disney and some information on how to copy an icon link for this page into your signature if you wish. It'd be great that if you know you want to go, to put it in your signature to get some new people interested.
On a side note, has anyone been to a halloween or christmas party at Disney? How does the ticketing work? Do you have to buy a second ticket to even get into the park?

Re: Disneystuck - Now Picking Dates!
Ohai. I thought this died. :/ So we're planning for Halloween 2013. There aren't any dates up for the Halloween Party next year, but basically any weekend in October, and I think the last two weekends in September and the first weekend in November are fair game. To be safe, let's stick to weekends in October, but the earlier the weekend, the cheaper the Halloween ticket. So October 4-6 or 11-13 would be our best bets, but I'm not opposed to doing it the week end right after Halloween (November 1-3). (Those dates are all Friday-Sunday)
The plan in my head (subject to change if other people want): Use Friday to travel, meet up at hotel, then either visit parks (if people have three-day tickets), visit hotel pool, or crash the free-to-get-into Downtown Disney in optional cosplay. Saturday, we can visit any of the parks except Magic Kingdom (since that's where the Halloween event is, and the tickets are the most expensive on Saturdays), and Sunday we do the Halloween cosplay at Magic Kingdom.
A note to Florida passholders: You don't have to worry about blackout dates at all!
On an unrelated note, did anyone else dress up as a homestuck for Halloween this year?

I believe they have said adults can no longer wear costumes idky well that was for Halloween 2012 also hope to see anyone there if I get lucky I'll manage to sneak my replica of Ahab's Crosshairs in there hehe

oh well that's a shame.. I still think that beta or alpha kids cosplay would be alright. Places always have an issue with troll cosplay I'm still up for this~! I'm going to be going to college in Orlando so this would be an awesome opprotunity to meet other orlandostucks!
Oh man, if I had the money I'd be all for this. If I win a minor lottery, though, I'll be sure to take another look at the idea. I hope those that end up going have fun, though.

Re: Disneystuck - October 2013
I had thought no one was interested in this! Pretty happy to hear it's still on.
As far as cosplay, I think RowdyJester's right about cosplaying as the kids, or maybe humanstuck trolls. If anyone is really set on full out cosplay, I don't see why we wouldn't be able to do it at Downtown Disney.
Oh, and just a thought, but since Halloween isn't really a benefit, does that change people's minds on when they want to go?

Well those should be alright you could probably pull of the troll if you hide your horns and maybe have your gray skin paint in a bottle.

LOL, can you image walking into the bathroom at Disney and seeing a bunch of people applying gray face paint with wigs and horns all over the place? XD

honestly I would have to check my schedule for school for that but any weekend should be fine with me! I'm pretty excited to do this! even if it is a small group, I love hanging out with homestucks. Everyone is very friendly!
Also, Red Voyager, that's a really good idea! I'm just not sure if people want to apply their paint and do all of their prepping in the bathroom or what not. Whatever we can get away with is great!
Since this is in Orlando and all, I was just wondering who is going to Megacon

Lol, but to be completely honest, I wouldn't do it, guys. Disney would probably kick you out. :/
And I've been thinking about going to Megacon, especially now that more events are being announced and they seem like a lot of fun, but all the nerds I know live too far away to want to go. :/
