It doesn't make sense, and the fact it's popular gets on my nerves. I think I'm more pissed by their representation in fanworks than the stupid current, inexistant dynamics they have. It's always Sollux beating the crap out of Eridan. Given how the second duel went, it should be the opposite.
Also, I hate the ship for the reasons you mentionned, but also because Sollux isn't interested, as evidenced by Reterniabound and Alterniabound.
