    Wow, cool work Yarnwitch!
Now, I'm probably that person that breaks canon art styles, but heck with that; I don't want to replicate Hussie's/whoever's style of talksprites, so I hand draw my sprites for the most part.

    ((2x session sessionmates forever))
That was my first attempt at talksprites. I was told it was crappy, so I stopped for a long bit. Then I recently picked up on it again

    ((Some keyblade master gal XD))
    Woop?

A thread specifically for talksprites is actually a good idea. Most of this sort of discussion ends up in fantroll critique, which is mostly for profiles anyway.

If you'll notice, talksprites usually lack noses (except humans. Since that seems to be a pattern, yours is probably fine), and generally have some sort of shading. I base my level of talksprite shading on Eridan's first sprite, and Equius' second; most of the canon ABs have only a small amount of shading, but due to variations in the comic, you can get away with more shading detail as long as it's not using too many colours. As for the smaller ones, yeah. The small size is not flattering for talksprites, since any detail added to them just looks strange.

Eh, like I said, I add my own touches, I know people look down upon it, but I'll add shading to the newest pic at least. the old ones are beyond repair :y

It's actually a good plan, having a thread for talksprites, whether requesting or just kinda showing. :> I did mine in SAI, so it isn't pixels(because SAI doesn't have a binary tool that I know of).

It has like, a couple of loose pixels on a frame or two and I'm having some legit trouble trying to get rid of them, since GIMP isn't showing them when I erase and Beneton Movie Gif doesn't show them as I'm animating. :/ Anyone able to help me out a bit? I wanna leeearn.

Anyway, if you can, I suggest getting Photoshop instead; newer versions (CS3 and up) can handle animation effectively, and older versions come with Imageready which does the same thing. It's also somewhat better suited for MSPA-styled art than SAI. Otherwise, save each frame individually, edit in MSPaint (), and compile the frames into a GIF like that.

i am popping into this thread briefly to say wow that talksprite is beautiful. o:
also encouraging for me since i prefer sai over my other art programs so if i could make a talksprite that looks half as good as that with it that'd be so cool.

    It probably has a bit to do with my SAI going off-frame or something, but yes, I will look into that! And I HAVE CS3 on this computer, but no serial, nor the amount of money it would undoubtedly cost to get a key for it. I have 8 days on my trial left ;o;

Does MSPaint do transparency? I'm willing to crack open that dinosaur for fine-tuning if I have to. I mostly just used regular lines because I was tired of pulling the thing over into OpenCanvas. I have like, three half-completed pixel sprites made in OC.

Aaaah thank you ;o; I'm sure you could make awesome stuff! SAI is a great program and lends itself to rather clean lines(course I have onta's brush set too, I dunno how much of a difference that makes cuz I'm still pretty computer dumb, but yeah), so it's not too hard to make a couple layers work magic for ya :>

i am going to give it a try. or, another try. i did a couple in sai before but didn't like the result but i wanna try again.
so far i've done at least one talksprite in sai, gimp, and photoshop, and i'm still not sure which i like the best.

Oh hey, according to canon, that means they have a lot in common! So you're a raging wannabe-tyrant that hates highbloods simply because you cannot RULE them too? Or are you just into gangster movies and flaunting whatever you enjoy most about yourself?

Actually you and me probs have a lot in common, but Frekki here isn't so much like me

Nope, but you can edit the bugged pixels out and take the frames into GIMP to redo the transparency. I've also heard tales of some "paint.net" thing that people use for spriting, but I've never thought to try it. Don't know if you could make use of it.

As for Photoshop, the most recent version (CS6) is £400/$400/€500 for retail, but you could get it for less under some student conditions (I suggest looking into it). Also, generally the older the version is the less it'll cost, so you could probably get 7 for a reasonable price. I'd say to save up; Photoshop is a very, very useful tool for just about anything graphics-related.

Well it looks like canon is WRONG here, they are nothing alike. XD Oh well.

    Re: Fantroll Talksprites and such.

Just finished this talksprite for someone, wondered if I could get a heads up on any potential problems I may have missed:

(It's not my troll, so the colours etc aren't really up to me. Just looking for structural issues, etc)

I made a talksprite for myself out of boredom about a month ago:

The actual size of the finished talksprite gif is kind of huge so I won't post it here unless someone really wants me to haha

I'd like to see it! Overall, the design fits the canon style very well. The only problem might be the size, since yeah, it is kinda huge :V

Dunno if the full size is also anti-aliased (which would also be a problem) but that wouldn't be hard to remedy if it is. Is it fully animated?

The reason it's anti-aliased is because I pulled the image source from the tumblr post, which compressed it to hell and back

The "final" animated version is here: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mc...dtqno1_500.gif
(put behind a link because yeah, it's kinda huge lmao)

Time to start back up a thread. Help please? I need a talksprite of this guy: http://darklord-cookie.deviantart.co...253A1360789691
Yeah, it looks like a talksprite but I have no clue how to put it together. Thanks if you do it.

I love how I suddenly finish up a talksprite after seeing this thread, then I end up realizing shortly before posting that it had been dead for over a month.

Anyways here have an animated Heptan; now with extra lazy animation.

And I'd love to take requests for talksprites but I have like zero time--seriously I have to go to work in less than eight hours and I am not ready for bed yet. :c

umm.. can you make Eridan's talksprites, but make he more friendly?
His appearance is very suitable for my character role-playing game and I'd love to see him laughing, crying - more emotional.
I hope that this is possible. I look forward to your help :с
